TO MY QUEEN - WALT DICKERSON 🔎

Walter Roland Dickerson (April 16, 1928 – May 15, 2008; aged 80) was an American jazz vibraphone player, most associated with the post-bop idiom. There he started to gain attention by leading a group with Andrew Hill and Andrew Cyrille, but it was Dickerson's later period in New York City when he gained some further notice. For the Prestige label he recorded four albums. In 1962 Down Beat named him the best new artist.
To My Queen is an album led by Walt Dickerson recorded in 1962 and released on the New Jazz label.

The JFK Quintet was a notable group of young musicians who played in Washington D.C. in the early 60s working regularly at the Bohemian Caverns Club. Their style was a crossbreed between the New Thing and postbop that retained the inherent swing of jazz, while at the same time the group was compulsively forward-facing and avant garde orientated.
New Jazz Frontiers From Washington is first album by The JFK Quintet, recorded in 1961 and released on the Riverside label.

JAY HAWK TALK - CARMELL JONES 🔎

Carmell Jones (July 19, 1936 – November 7, 1996; aged 60) was an American jazz trumpet player. He toured with Horace Silver in 1964–65, and was on Silver's seminal 1965 Blue Note album Song for My Father. In 1965, he moved to Germany where he lived for 15 years. Jones returned to the US in 1980, working as a teacher and appearing at local clubs in Kansas City.
Jay Hawk Talk is the third studio album by Carmell Jones. Recorded and released in 1965, it was Jones' debut on Prestige and his final album as a leader.

Stan Getz (February 2, 1927 – June 6, 1991; aged 64) was an American jazz saxophonist. Playing primarily the tenor saxophone, Getz was known as "The Sound" because of his warm, lyrical tone, with his prime influence being the wispy, mellow timbre of his idol, Lester Young. Influenced by João Gilberto and Antônio Carlos Jobim, he also helped popularize bossa nova in the United States with the hit 1964 single "The Girl from Ipanema".
Imported from Europe is an album by Stan Getz which was released on the Verve label in 1959.
