KELLY GREAT - WYNTON KELLY

Wynton Charles Kelly (December 2, 1931 - April 12, 1971; aged 39) was an American jazz pianist and composer. He is known for his lively, blues-based playing and as one of the finest accompanists in jazz. Kelly attracted the most attention as part of Miles Davis' band from 1959, including an appearance on the Kind of Blue, often mentioned as the best-selling jazz album ever.

The Manhattan Jazz Quintet is a jazz ensemble consisting of David Matthews on piano, Lew Soloff on trumpet, Victor Lewis on drums, Andy Snitzer on saxophone, and Charnett Moffett on bass. Previously, the band featured George Young on tenor sax, Eddie Gomez on bass, and Steve Gadd on drums. The group was formed in 1983 at the suggestion of Japanese jazz magazine Swing Journal and the King record label.
This album was recorded at Clinton Recording Studio, N.Y., March 3, 1985.

Herbert Jay Solomon (April 16, 1930 - July 1, 2003; aged 73), known professionally by his stage name Herbie Mann, was an American jazz flautist and important early practitioner of world music. Early in his career, he also played tenor saxophone and clarinet (including bass clarinet), but Mann was among the first jazz musicians to specialize on the flute.
Concerto Grosso in D Blues is an album by Herbie Mann, merging jazz with classical music. It was recorded in 1968 and released on the Atlantic label.

Milton "Bags" Jackson (January 1, 1923 - October 9, 1999; aged 76) was an American jazz vibraphonist, usually thought of as a bebop player, although he performed in several jazz idioms. He is especially remembered for his cool swinging solos as a member of the Modern Jazz Quartet and his penchant for collaborating with hard bop and post-bop players.
That's the Way It Is is a live album by Milt Jackson featuring performances recorded at Shelly's Manne Hole in 1969 for the Impulse! label.

The Jazz Messengers were a jazz combo that existed for over thirty-five years beginning in the early 1950s as a collective, and ending when long-time leader and founding drummer Art Blakey died in 1990. Blakey led or co-led the group from the outset.
"Art Blakey" and "Jazz Messengers" became synonymous over the years, though Blakey did lead non-Messenger recording sessions and played as a sideman for other groups throughout his career.
A Night in Tunisia is a 1957 jazz album by Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers, released by the RCA Victor subsidiary label Vik. It features the only recorded instances of saxophonists Jackie McLean and Johnny Griffin playing together.

ピート・ハミル(Pete Hamill, 1935年6月24日 - 2020年8月5日 85歳没 )は、アメリカ合衆国のジャーナリスト、コラムニスト、小説家。ニューヨーク州ブルックリン生まれ。妻はジャーナリストで作家の青木冨貴子。
日本では山田洋次監督作品である映画『幸福の黄色いハンカチ』の原作(1971年にニューヨーク・ポスト紙に掲載されたコラム『Going Home』)を書いたことでも知られている。
この作品は、文庫サイズの探偵小説「ニューヨーク・シティ・ストーリー」とLPレコードが同梱されている。レコードの内容は小説に登場している歌手や楽曲が取り上げられている。

浅川マキ(1942年1月27日 - 2010年1月17日 67歳没)石川県出身、作詞(詩)家、作曲家、編曲家。1969年7月1日、寺本幸司のプロデュースによる「夜が明けたら」(EXPRESS-レーベル)で正式にレコード・デビュー。以後移籍することなく作品を発表しつつステージを主体に音楽活動を行った。
『幻の男たち』に続く、本多俊之とのDUO第2弾にして通算22枚目のアルバム。
