SONG OF SOIL / SESSION IN PARIS VOL.1 - MASAHIKO TOGASHI

Masahiko Togashi (富樫雅彦 March 22, 1940, Tokyo - August 22, 2007, Kanagawa) was a Japanese jazz percussionist and composer.
He worked with Sadao Watanabe, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and Tony Scott in the 1950s, then founded the ensemble Jazz Academy in 1961 with Hideto Kanai, Masabumi Kikuchi, and Masayuki Takayanagi. He was an early free jazz leader in Japan, playing in this idiom with Yosuke Yamashita and performing with American musicians such as Ornette Coleman, Blue Mitchell, Lee Morgan, and Sonny Rollins on Japanese tours.
This session, recorded in Paris at the Ramese Studio Du Village in 1979, sees an explosive collaboration by the trio of Masahiko Togashi, Don Cherry and Charlie Haden.

THE ARTISTRY OF PEPPER - ART PEPPER

Arthur Edward Pepper Jr. (September 1, 1925 - June 15, 1982) was an American alto saxophonist and very occasional tenor saxophonist and clarinetist.
A longtime figure in West Coast jazz, Pepper came to prominence in Stan Kenton's big band. He was known for his emotionally charged performances and several stylistic shifts throughout his career.
Pepper's early career was plagued with heroin addiction and imprisonment. "The Artistry of Pepper" was made in 1956 and 1957 following Pepper's rehabilitation. The album collects two sessions, one a quintet in which Pepper shares the featured role with tenor saxophonist Bill Perkins, the other a "cool" nonet performing arrangements by Shorty Rogers.

Kim Carnes (born July 20, 1945) is an American singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
"Mistaken Identity" is the sixth studio album by Kim Carnes. It was released in April 1981 by EMI America Records. The album spent four weeks at number one on the Billboard 200, and was subsequently certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It was nominated for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
The album's lead single "Bette Davis Eyes" peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for nine non-consecutive weeks and topped the Hot 100 year-end chart of 1981.
