PORTRAIT IN JAZZ - BILL EVANS TRIO

William John Evans (August 16, 1929 - September 15, 1980) was an American jazz pianist and composer who mostly played in trios.
His use of impressionist harmony, inventive interpretation of traditional jazz repertoire, block chords, and trademark rhythmically independent, "singing" melodic lines continue to influence jazz pianists today.
"Portrait in Jazz" is an album by Bill Evans, released in 1960. Eight months after his successful collaboration with Miles Davis on the album "Kind of Blue", Evans recorded "Portrait in Jazz" with a new group (the Bill Evans Trio) that helped change the direction of modern jazz.
