RYUHYO ―SAILING ICE― - MOTOHIKO HINO QUARTET + 1

Motohiko "Toko" Hino (January 3, 1946 in Tokyo - May 13, 1999; aged 53) was a Japanese jazz drummer.
Hino's father, who was a dancer and musician, taught Hino and his brother, Terumasa Hino, tap dancing as children. At the age of ten, Hino began playing drums, and by age 17 was playing professionally.
In the mid-1970s, Hino was repeatedly voted by Swing Journal the best jazz drummer in Japan, though from 1978 he was based in New York City.
Ryuhyo(流氷) is an album by Motohiko Hino Quartet + 1 which was recorded in Nemuro, Hokkaido, 1976 and released on the Japanese Three Blind Mice label.

Walter Theodore "Sonny" Rollins (born September 7, 1930) is an American jazz tenor saxophonist who is widely recognized as one of the most important and influential jazz musicians.
In a seven-decade career, he has recorded over sixty albums as a leader. A number of his compositions, including "St. Thomas", "Oleo", "Doxy", "Pent-Up House", and "Airegin", have become jazz standards. Rollins has been called "the greatest living improviser" and the "Saxophone Colossus".
"Tenor Madness" is a 1956 jazz album by Sonny Rollins. It is most notable for its title track, the only known recording featuring both Rollins and John Coltrane.

Charles Daniel Richmond (December 15, 1931 - March 16, 1988) was an American jazz drummer who is best known for his work with Charles Mingus. He also worked with Joe Cocker, Elton John and Mark-Almond. His career took off when he took up the drums, in his early twenties, through the formation of what was to be a 21-year association with Charles Mingus. That association continued after Mingus' death when Richmond became the first musical director of the group Mingus Dynasty in 1980.

A major proponent of collective improvisation, he is considered to be one of the greatest jazz musicians and composers in history, with a career spanning three decades and collaborations with other jazz legends such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Dannie Richmond, and Herbie Hancock.
"Me, Myself an Eye" is a jazz album under the name of Charles Mingus, from whom the compositions came, but who did not participate as a musician.
The session, which took place on January 23, 1978 at Atlantic Studios in New York City, was chaired by Paul Jeffrey; the arrangements and orchestrations were realized by Jack Walrath with the participation or use of tape recordings by Charles Mingus.

An important figure of the fusion era of jazz, DeJohnette is one of the most influential jazz drummers of the 20th century, given his extensive work as leader and sideman for musicians including Charles Lloyd, Freddie Hubbard, Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, John Abercrombie, Alice Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis, Joe Henderson, Michael Brecker, Herbie Hancock and John Scofield.
