Donald Eugene Cherry (November 18, 1936 - October 19, 1995) was an American jazz trumpeter. Cherry had a long association with saxophonist Ornette Coleman, which began in the late 1950s. Cherry was also a pioneer in world fusion music in the 1960s and 1970s.
"The Jazz Composer's Orchestra" was an American jazz group founded by Carla Bley and Michael Mantler in 1965 to perform orchestral avant-garde jazz.
"Relativity Suite" is a free-jazz album by Don Cherry on Jazz Composer's Orchestra Records which was released in 1973.

HANALEI BAY - LEW SOLOFF

Lewis Michael Soloff (February 20, 1944 - March 8, 2015) was an American jazz trumpeter, composer and actor. From New York City, he studied trumpet at the Eastman School of Music and the Juilliard School. He worked with Blood, Sweat & Tears from 1968 until 1973.
Soloff was a regular member and sub-leader of Gil Evans' Monday Night Orchestra, started from 1983, and trained his ability as band leader.
"Hanalei Bay" was recorded in 1985 in N.Y. by Gil Evans (electric piano), Pete Levin (synthesizer), Hiram Bullock (guitar), Adam Nussbaum (drums), Mark Egan (bass), Manolo Badrena (percussion) and others.

Helen Merrill (born July 21, 1930) is an American jazz vocalist.
Ian Ernest Gilmore Evans (born May 13, 1912 - March 20, 1988) was a Canadian-American jazz pianist, arranger, composer and bandleader. He is widely recognized as one of the greatest orchestrators in jazz, playing an important role in the development of cool jazz, modal jazz, free jazz, and jazz fusion. He is best known for his acclaimed collaborations with Miles Davis.
"Collaboration" is a 1987 studio album by Helen Merrill, arranged by Gil Evans. Merrill and Evans had previously collaborated on the 1957 album "Dream of You".

Jo Elizabeth Stafford (November 12, 1917 - July 16, 2008) was an American traditional pop music singer and occasional actress, whose career spanned five decades from the late 1930s to the early 1980s.
Her 1952 song "You Belong to Me" topped the charts in the United States and United Kingdom, the record becoming the first by a female artist to reach number one on the UK Singles Chart.
"Jo + Jazz" is a 1960 album recorded by Jo Stafford on Columbia Records.
For this album, Stafford is backed by a line-up of noted jazz musicians including Conte Candoli, Don Fagerquist, Russ Freeman, Johnny Hodges, Mel Lewis, Ray Nance, Jimmy Rowles and Ben Webster, who were under the orchestration of Johnny Mandel.

THE ART PEPPER QUARTET

Arthur Edward Pepper Jr. (September 1, 1925 - June 15, 1982) was an American alto saxophonist and very occasional tenor saxophonist and clarinetist.
A longtime figure in West Coast jazz, Pepper came to prominence in Stan Kenton's big band.
He had become a heroin addict in the 1940s, and his career was interrupted by drug-related prison sentences in 1954-56, 1960-61, 1961-64 and 1964-65.
"The Art Pepper Quartet" is an album by Art Pepper featuring sessions from 1956 recorded for the Tampa label.

Rahsaan Roland Kirk (August 7, 1935 - December 5, 1977) was an American jazz multi-instrumentalist who played tenor saxophone, flute, and many other instruments.
Kirk was born Ronald Theodore Kirk in Columbus, Ohio. He became blind at two years old, which he said was a result of improper medical treatment.
He was renowned for his onstage vitality, during which virtuoso improvisation was accompanied by comic banter, political ranting, and the ability to play several instruments simultaneously. But I don't know what "5000 lb. MAN" means. Does it mean Giant?

VERSES - WALLACE RONEY

Wallace Roney (May 25, 1960 - March 31, 2020) was an American jazz (hard bop and post-bop) trumpeter.
Roney took lessons from Clark Terry and Dizzy Gillespie and studied with Miles Davis from 1985 until the latter's death in 1991. Wallace Roney died at the age of 59 on March 31, 2020, at St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. The cause was complications arising from COVID-19.
"Verses" is the debut album by Wallace Roney which was recorded in 1987 and released on the Muse label.

Randolph Denard Ornette Coleman (March 9 or 19, 1930 - June 11, 2015) was an American jazz saxophonist, violinist, trumpeter, and composer. In the 1960s, he was one of the founders of free jazz, a term he invented for his album Free Jazz: A Collective Improvisation.
"The Empty Foxhole" is an album by Ornette Coleman released on the Blue Note label in 1966. The album features Coleman's untutored violin and trumpet as well as performing on his usual instrument, the alto saxophone, and marks the recording debut of his drummer son Denardo Coleman, who was ten years of age at the time.

He is best known for his work with Charles Mingus, Gil Evans, Roy Haynes and in the quartet he co-led with pianist Don Pullen, featuring bassist Cameron Brown and drummer Dannie Richmond.
Hannibal Lokumbe (born Marvin Peterson on November 11, 1948), also known mononymously as Hannibal, is an American jazz trumpeter and composer.
"More Sightings" is an album by George Adams and Marvin "Hannibal" Peterson which was recorded in Switzerland in 1984 and released on the Enja label.
