TREASURE ISLAND - KEITH JARRETT

Keith Jarrett (born May 8, 1945) is an American jazz and classical music pianist and composer.
Jarrett started his career with Art Blakey, moving on to play with Charles Lloyd and Miles Davis. Since the early 1970s he has enjoyed a great deal of success as a group leader and a solo performer in jazz, jazz fusion, and classical music. His improvisations draw from the traditions of jazz and other genres, especially Western classical music, gospel, blues, and ethnic folk music.
Treasure Island is an album recorded in February 1974 by Keith Jarrett and originally released by Impulse! in 1974. It features Jarrett's later-to-be-called "American Quartet" (Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, Paul Motian) plus guitarist Sam Brown, and percussionists Guilherme Franco and Danny Johnson.

El Juicio (The Judgement) is an album by Keith Jarrett recorded in 1971 and released in 1975. On four days in July and one in August 1971 Jarrett went into the Atlantic Recording Studios with his trio (Charlie Haden and Paul Motian) plus Dewey Redman on tenor saxophone and produced enough music for three albums The Mourning of a Star (released in 1971), El Juicio (The Judgement) and Birth (released in 1972).

J.J.JOHNSON'S JAZZ QUINTETS

James Louis Johnson (January 22, 1924 - February 4, 2001) was an American jazz trombonist, composer and arranger. Johnson was one of the earliest trombonists to embrace bebop.
J.J.Johnson's Jazz Quintets is a studio album by J. J. Johnson, released by Savoy Records, containing material from three different recording sessions in 1946, 1947 and 1949. Material from the first two sessions had been previously released on two Savoy EPs, New Trends In Jazz, Vol. 11 (Savoy XP 8047) and Birth of Bop, Vol. 3 (Savoy XP 8086). The album was re-issued on CD in 1992, and again in 1994 on the Savoy Jazz label.

The Avant-Garde is an album credited to jazz musicians John Coltrane and Don Cherry that was released in 1966 by Atlantic Records. It features Coltrane playing several compositions by Ornette Coleman accompanied by the members of Coleman's quartet: Cherry, Charlie Haden, and Ed Blackwell. The album was assembled from two unissued recording sessions at Atlantic Studios in New York City in 1960.

GENIUS OF MODERN MUSIC VOL.1 - THELONIOUS MONK

Thelonious Sphere Monk (October 10, 1917 - February 17, 1982) was an American jazz pianist and composer. He had a unique improvisational style and made numerous contributions to the standard jazz repertoire, including "'Round Midnight", "Blue Monk", "Straight, No Chaser", "Ruby, My Dear", "In Walked Bud", and "Well, You Needn't". Monk is the second-most-recorded jazz composer after Duke Ellington.
Genius of Modern Music: Volume 1 is the name given to at least four different compilation albums by Thelonious Monk. Each version comprises some of Monk's first recordings as band leader for Blue Note, recorded in 1947 (and sometimes 1948). The original 10-inch LP with this title was compiled in 1951.

Cecil Percival Taylor (March 25, 1929 - April 5, 2018) was an American pianist and poet.
Taylor was classically trained and was one of the pioneers of free jazz. His music is characterized by an energetic, physical approach, resulting in complex improvisation often involving tone clusters and intricate polyrhythms. His technique has been compared to percussion.
Jazz Advance is the debut album by pianist Cecil Taylor recorded for the Transition label in September of 1956. The album features performances by Taylor with Buell Neidlinger, Denis Charles and Steve Lacy.

Anita O'Day (born Anita Belle Colton; October 18, 1919 - November 23, 2006) was an American jazz singer and self proclaimed “song stylist” widely admired for her sense of rhythm and dynamics, and her early big band appearances that shattered the traditional image of the "girl singer".
This is Anita is a reissue of Anita, a 1956 album by Anita O'Day that was re-released in 1962 under the new title. It was arranged and conducted by Buddy Bregman and was the first in a series of albums recorded by O'Day for the newly inaugurated Verve Records.

Diane Joan Schuur (born December 10, 1953), nicknamed "Deedles", is an American jazz singer and pianist. As of 2015, Schuur had released 23 albums, and had extended her jazz repertoire to include essences of Latin, gospel, pop and country music.
Schuur has been blind from birth due to retinopathy of prematurity, but has been gifted with absolute pitch memory and a clear vocal tone.
