ON THE CORNER - MILES DAVIS

Miles Dewey Davis III (May 26, 1926 - September 28, 1991) was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer. He is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th-century music.
"On the Corner" is a studio album by Miles Davis. It was recorded in June and July 1972 and released on October 11 of the same year by Columbia Records.
The album continued Davis's exploration of jazz fusion, and explicitly drew on the influence of funk musicians Sly Stone and James Brown, the experimental music of Karlheinz Stockhausen, ideas by composer Paul Buckmaster, and the free jazz of Ornette Coleman.

Sadao Watanabe (渡辺 貞夫, born February 1, 1933) is a Japanese jazz musician who plays alto saxophone, sopranino saxophone, and flute. He is known for his bossa nova recordings, although his work encompasses many styles, with collaborations from musicians all over the world.

Terumasa Hino (日野 皓正, born October 25, 1942) is a Japanese jazz trumpeter. He is considered one of Japan's finest jazz musicians.
His instruments include the trumpet, cornet, and flugelhorn.
This album is of the most striking mid 70s sessions from Terumasa Hino. Performed by a very hip group that includes Mtume on congas and percussion, Cecil McBee on bass, and Motohiko Hino on drums. The approach here is almost in a mid 70s Japanese spiritual mode.

Wynton Marsalis (born October 18, 1961) is an American virtuoso trumpeter, composer, teacher, and artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center. He has promoted classical and jazz music, often to young audiences.
Marsalis has been awarded nine Grammy Awards. Marsalis is the only musician to win a Grammy Award in jazz and classical during the same year.
"Hot House Flowers" is an album by Wynton Marsalis that won the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Performance, Soloist in 1985.

MAGIC SAM 1937-1969

Samuel Gene Maghett (February 14, 1937 - December 1, 1969), known as Magic Sam, was an American Chicago blues musician.
He was born in Grenada County, Mississippi, and learned to play the blues from listening to records by Muddy Waters and Little Walter. After moving to Chicago at the age of 19, he was signed by Cobra Records and became well known as a bluesman after the release of his first record, "All Your Love", in 1957. He was known for his distinctive tremolo guitar playing.
His career was cut short when he suddenly died of a heart attack in December 1969. He was 32 years old.

Aaron Thibeaux "T-Bone" Walker (May 28, 1910 - March 16, 1975) was an American blues guitarist, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, who was a pioneer and innovator of the jump blues and electric blues sound.
In 2018 Rolling Stone magazine ranked him number 37 on its list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".
Walker was posthumously inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1980 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.

"Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" released in 1988, was Robert Cray's follow-up to "Strong Persuader". It was unable to match the mainstream success of "Strong Persuader", peaking at #32 on Billboard 200 and staying on the charts for 60 weeks.
