David William Sanborn (born July 30, 1945) is an American alto saxophonist. Though Sanborn has worked in many genres, his solo recordings typically blend jazz with instrumental pop and R&B. He released his first solo album Taking Off in 1975, but has been playing the saxophone since before he was in high school.
"A Change of Heart" is a studio album by David Sanborn, released in 1987 through the record label Warner Bros. The album reached number 74 on the Billboard 200, number 43 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart and number 3 on the Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart.

JAMMIN' UPTOWN - ALVIN QUEEN

Alvin Queen is an American-born Swiss jazz drummer born in the Bronx, New York, on August 16, 1950. At 16, he played for Ruth Brown and Don Pullen and with the Wild Bill Davis trio.
He played with trombonist Benny Green and guitarist Tiny Grimes in 1969 and replaced Billy Cobham in the Horace Silver quintet.
He also played with the George Benson quartet before rejoining Charles Tolliver in November 1971. During the seventies, he lived in Canada, before settling in Switzerland in 1979 and creating the label Nilva, an anagram of his first name.

PEGE - ALADÁR PEGE

Aladár Pege (8 October 1939 - 23 September 2006) was a jazz musician from Hungary. He was well known for his work and was dubbed "the Paganini of double bass".
He was chosen as best soloist of Europe in 1970, performed at Carnegie Hall and worked with Herbie Hancock. This was quite rare during the communist era, when Hungarian (and other Eastern bloc countries') artists were seriously restricted in foreign travel. He spent his last decades teaching at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.

RED MITCHELL

Keith Moore "Red" Mitchell (September 20, 1927 - November 8, 1992), was an American jazz double-bassist, composer, lyricist, and poet.
Mitchell used standard tuning during the 1950s and for the first half of the 1960s, and produced sound similar to his professional jazz bass peers. However,in 1966 he switched to cello tuning on his bass (C-G-D-A, an octave below the cello, instead of the standard E-A-D-G).

Paul Laurence Dunbar Chambers Jr. (April 22, 1935 - January 4, 1969) was a jazz double bassist. A fixture of rhythm sections during the 1950s and 1960s, his importance in the development of jazz bass can be measured not only by the extent of his work in this short period, but also by his impeccable timekeeping and intonation, and virtuosic improvisations.
"Bass on Top" is an album by Paul Chambers recorded in 1957 and released on the Blue Note label in October 1957.

LEFT ALONE - MAL WALDRON

Malcolm Earl "Mal" Waldron (August 16, 1925 - December 2, 2002) was an American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger. He started playing professionally in New York in 1950, after graduating from college. In the following dozen years or so Waldron led his own bands and played for those led by Charles Mingus, Jackie McLean, John Coltrane, and Eric Dolphy, among others. Waldron was often an accompanist for vocalists, and was Billie Holiday's regular accompanist from April 1957 until her death in July 1959.
"Left Alone" is an album by Mal Waldron recorded in 1959 and released on the Bethlehem label.

IT'S ABOUT TIME - McCOY TYNER & JACKIE McLEAN

"It's About Time" is a 1985 album by McCoy Tyner and Jackie McLean, the first released on the re-established Blue Note label. It was recorded in April 1985 and features performances by Tyner and McLean with Jon Faddis, Ron Carter, Al Foster, Marcus Miller, and Steve Thornton.
Tyner's composition "You Taught My Heart to Sing" appears on the album in its original instrumental version. Subsequent to the recording on "It's About Time", lyricist Sammy Cahn wrote a lyric for "You Taught My Heart to Sing". Singer Dianne Reeves recorded a vocal version of the song in 1988, and the song has since been recorded by other singers.

TIME OUT - THE DAVE BRUBECK QUARTET

David Warren Brubeck (December 6, 1920 - December 5, 2012) was an American jazz pianist and composer, considered one of the foremost exponents of cool jazz. Many of his compositions have become jazz standards including "In Your Own Sweet Way" and "The Duke". His music is known for employing unusual time signatures as well as superimposing contrasting rhythms, meters, and tonalities.
"Time Out" is a studio album by the American jazz group the Dave Brubeck Quartet, released in 1959 on Columbia Records. Recorded at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in New York City. The album is a subtle blend of cool and West Coast jazz.

Wynton Charles Kelly (December 2, 1931 - April 12, 1971) was an American jazz pianist and composer. He is known for his lively, blues-based playing and as one of the finest accompanists in jazz.
Kelly attracted the most attention as part of Miles Davis' band from 1959, including an appearance on the trumpeter's Kind of Blue, often mentioned as the best-selling jazz album ever.
"Undiluted" is an album by jazz pianist Wynton Kelly that was recorded in 1965 and released by Verve label with Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb.
