COLTRANE PLAYS THE BLUES - JOHN COLTRANE

John William Coltrane (September 23, 1926 - July 17, 1967) was an American jazz saxophonist and composer. Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes and was at the forefront of free jazz. He led at least fifty recording sessions and appeared on many albums by other musicians, including trumpeter Miles Davis and pianist Thelonious Monk.

Booker Telleferro Ervin II (October 31, 1930 - August 31, 1970) was an American tenor saxophone player. His tenor playing was characterised by a strong, tough sound and blues/gospel phrasing. He is best known for his association with bassist Charles Mingus.
The Book Cooks is the debut album by Booker Ervin featuring performances recorded in 1960 for the Bethlehem label.

THE SOOTHSAYER - WAYNE SHORTER

Wayne Shorter (born August 25, 1933) is an American jazz saxophonist and composer.
Shorter came to wide prominence in the late 1950s as a member of, and eventually primary composer for, Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. In the 1960s, he went on to join Miles Davis's Second Great Quintet, and from there he co-founded the jazz fusion band Weather Report. He has recorded over 20 albums as a bandleader.
The Soothsayer is the seventh album by Wayne Shorter, recorded in 1965, but not released on Blue Note until 1979.

Walter Theodore "Sonny" Rollins (born September 7, 1930) is an American jazz tenor saxophonist who is widely recognized as one of the most important and influential jazz musicians. In a seven-decade career, he has recorded over sixty albums as a leader.
Sonny Rollins, Vol. 2 is a jazz album by Sonny Rollins. It was released in 1957 on Blue Note Records, catalogue BLP 1558. It is noted for the appearance of pianists Thelonious Monk and Horace Silver, both playing on the Monk composition "Misterioso". Monk also plays on his composition "Reflections", while Silver handles the piano duties on all the other tracks.

George M. Duke (January 12, 1946 - August 5, 2013) was an American keyboardist, composer, singer-songwriter and record producer. He worked with numerous artists as arranger, music director, writer and co-writer, record producer and as a professor of music.
"I Love the Blues, She Heard My Cry" is the seventh studio album by George Duke. It was released in 1975 through MPS Records. The album features contributions from frequent collaborators Leon "Ndugu" Chancler on drums, Airto Moreira and Flora Purim with guest appearances by trombonist Bruce Fowler, bassist Tom Fowler, percussionists Ruth Underwood and Emil Richards, guitarists Lee Ritenhour, Daryl Stuermer, Johnny "Guitar" Watson and others musicians. This album is dedicated to the memory of the late Julian "Cannonball" Adderley.

Lester Bowie (October 11, 1941 - November 8, 1999) was an American jazz trumpet player and composer. He was a member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians and co-founded the Art Ensemble of Chicago.
"I Only Have Eyes for You" is the third album by Lester Bowie recorded for ECM and the debut album of his "Brass Fantasy" group. It was released in 1985 and features performances by Bowie, Vincent Chancey, Craig Harris, Steve Turre, Malachi Thompson, Stanton Davis, Bob Stewart and Phillip Wilson.

展覧会の絵 - 冨田勲

冨田 勲(1932年4月22日 - 2016年5月5日)は、日本の作曲家、編曲家、シンセサイザー・アーティスト(シンセサイザー音楽作家、シンセサイザー奏者)。 1969年、大阪万博の東芝IHIのパビリオンの音楽を録音するため大阪に滞在した。訪れた輸入レコード店で、モーグ・シンセサイザーを全面的に用いて作成されたウォルター・カーロス(現在はウェンディ・カーロス)の『Switched-On Bach』と出会い、これこそ求めているものだと直感した。1971年秋頃、モジュラー式のモーグ・シンセサイザーを日本で初めて個人輸入した。
1975年2月発表の本作『展覧会の絵』は、1975年8月16日付けのビルボード・キャッシュボックスの全米クラシックチャートの第1位を獲得し、1975年全米レコード販売者協会 同部門最優秀レコード2年連続受賞、1975年度日本レコード大賞・企画賞を受賞した。
