STEPPIN' WITH THE WORLD SAXOPHONE QUARTET

The World Saxophone Quartet is a jazz ensemble founded in 1977, incorporating elements of free jazz, R & B, funk and South African jazz into their music. The original members were Julius Hemphill (alto and soprano saxophone, flute), Oliver Lake (alto and soprano saxophone), Hamiet Bluiett (baritone saxophone, alto clarinet), and David Murray (tenor saxophone, bass clarinet).
"Steppin' with the World Saxophone Quartet" is an album by the World Saxophone Quartet released on the Italian Black Saint label in 1979.

CALIFORNIA DREAMING - WES MONTGOMERY

John Leslie "Wes" Montgomery (March 6, 1923 - June 15, 1968) was an American jazz guitarist.
One of the most influential guitarists of the 20th century, Montgomery was known for an unusual technique of plucking the strings with the side of his thumb and his extensive use of octaves, which granted him a distinctive sound.
"California Dreaming" is an album by Wes Montgomery that was released in 1966. It reached No. 1 on the Billboard magazine jazz album chart and No. 4 on the R&B chart.

MR. GONE - WEATHER REPORT

Weather Report was an American jazz fusion band of the 1970s and early 1980s.
The band was initially co-led by the Austrian-born keyboard player Joe Zawinul, the American saxophonist Wayne Shorter and Czech bassist Miroslav Vitous. Other prominent members at various points in the band's lifespan included bassists Alphonso Johnson, Jaco Pastorius and Victor Bailey.
"Mr. Gone" is the ninth studio album by Weather Report released in 1978 by ARC/Columbia Records.

Joseph Carl Firrantello (December 16, 1937 - January 10, 1986), known as Joe Farrell, was an American jazz saxophonist and flutist. He is best known for a series of albums under his own name on the CTI record label and for playing in the initial incarnation of Chick Corea's Return to Forever.
"Outback" is a jazz album by Joe Farrell on the CTI Records label. It was recorded at the Van Gelder Studio in November 1971.

TOUCH - ISAO SUZUKI & HIS FELLOWS

Isao Suzuki (鈴木 勲, born January 2, 1933 in Tokyo) is a Japanese jazz bassist.
Suzuki learned to play bass on United States military bases, and played early in his career with Shotaro Moriyasu, Hidehiko Matsumoto, and Sadao Watanabe. He led his own ensemble in Tokyo from 1965-1969, also playing with Hampton Hawes in 1968.
He moved to New York City from 1969 to 1971, playing with Ron Carter, Paul Desmond, Ella Fitzgerald, Jim Hall, Wynton Kelly, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, and Bobby Timmons. Returning to Japan, he played with Kenny Burrell and Mal Waldron in addition to his own ensembles. Later in the 1970s he began expanding his instrumental repertoire, playing cello and piccolo bass.

Alfred McCoy Tyner (December 11, 1938 - March 6, 2020) was an American jazz pianist known for his work with the John Coltrane Quartet and a long solo career. He was five-time Grammy winner. Tyner, who was widely imitated, was one of the most recognizable and most influential pianists in jazz history.
"Together" is a 1979 album by McCoy Tyner released on the Milestone label.

MOONFLOWER - FUMIO KARASHIMA meets ELVIN JONES

Fumio Karashima (辛島文雄, 9 March 1948 - 24 February 2017) was a Japanese jazz pianist.
He stayed in New York in 1973, but returned to Japan the next year.
In 1975 he joined drummer George Ohtsuka's band.
In 1980 he joined Elvin Jones' Jazz Machine, and stayed for five years, including for tours of Europe and the United States.
He then switched to being principally a solo pianist, but also led a quintet from 1988 to 1991. During the 1990s he frequently toured internationally.

THREE QUARTETS - CHICK COREA

Armando Anthony "Chick" Corea (born June 12, 1941) is an American jazz pianist/electric keyboardist and composer. His compositions "Spain", "500 Miles High", "La Fiesta" and "Windows", are considered jazz standards.
As a member of Miles Davis's band in the late 1960s, he participated in the birth of jazz fusion. In the 1970s he formed the fusion band Return to Forever. With Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, Keith Jarrett and Bill Evans, he has been described as one of the major jazz piano voices to emerge in the post-John Coltrane era.

"Three Quartets" is a jazz album released in 1981 by Chick Corea, in collaboration with saxophonist Michael Brecker, bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Steve Gadd. All compositions are by Corea who wanted to create an album of quartets like the many string quartets of the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Impressionist periods; however, he would use jazz instrumentation.
