RETURN TO ALTO ACRES - RICHIE COLE

Richie Cole (February 29, 1948 - May 2, 2020; aged 72) was an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and arranger. In 1969, he joined drummer Buddy Rich's Big Band. After working with Lionel Hampton's Big Band and Doc Severinsen's Big Band, he formed his own quintet and toured worldwide, developing his own "alto madness" bebop style in the 1970s and early '80s. He formed the Alto Madness Orchestra in the 1990s.
Return to Alto Acres is an album by Richie Cole recorded in February 16, 1982 and released on the Paj label.

Takin'Care of Business is a re-release of the album "Out Of This World" released under the names of Papper Adams and Donald Byrd Quintet in the 1970s due to the popularity of Herbie Hancock.

A NIGHT AT BIRDLAND - ART BLAKEY BLUE NOTE 1521 VOLUME 1

Arthur Blakey (October 11, 1919 - October 16, 1990; aged 71) was an American jazz drummer and bandleader. He was briefly known as Abdullah Ibn Buhaina after he converted to Islam for a short time in the late 1940s. In the mid-1950s, Horace Silver and Blakey formed the Jazz Messengers, a group that the drummer was associated with for the next 35 years.
A Night at Birdland Vol. 1 is a 1954 release by Art Blakey, and a quintet which featured Clifford Brown, Lou Donaldson, Horace Silver and Curly Russell. It was first released by Blue Note Records as a 10" LP (BLP 5037) and then as a 12" LP (BLP 1521) containing material from the second 10" album.

Ian Ernest Gilmore Evans (born Green; May 13, 1912 - March 20, 1988; aged 75) was a Canadian-American jazz pianist, arranger, composer and bandleader. He is widely recognized as one of the greatest orchestrators in jazz, playing an important role in the development of cool jazz, modal jazz, free jazz, and jazz fusion. He is best known for his acclaimed collaborations with Miles Davis.
Live Sweet Basil is a live album by Gil Evans recorded by King Records (Japan) in New York in 1984 featuring Evans with his Monday Night Orchestra which included George Adams, Howard Johnson, and Lew Soloff and originally released in the US on the Gramavision label.

Many of his compositions have become jazz standards including "In Your Own Sweet Way" and "The Duke". His music is known for employing unusual time signatures as well as superimposing contrasting rhythms, meters, and tonalities.

Solo Concerts: Bremen/Lausanne is a recording released through ECM by jazz pianist Keith Jarrett performing solo improvisations recorded in Bremen (Germany, July) and Lausanne (Switzerland, March) in 1973; in between, Jarrett played in the US with his American quartet. Originally released as a 3-LP album, it was the first of Jarrett's live solo performances to be released on ECM, following his studio-based debut solo recording Facing You (1971), and preceding his record-breaking Koln Concert (1975).
