WANTING - GABRIELA ANDERS

Gabriela Anders (born March 17, 1972 in Buenos Aires; age 49) is an Argentine singer and pianist.
Anders started out on classical guitar, then studied piano at a conservatory in Buenos Aires. In the U.S., she was influenced by jazz and listened to the music of Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon, and John Coltrane. While she was in college, she sang with Tito Puente and Grover Washington Jr. Her first album, Fantasia was released in 1996. This was followed by Wanting released in 1998.

Paul Winter (born August 31, 1939; age 82) is an American saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. He is a pioneer of world music and "earth music", which interweaves the voices of the wild with instrumental voices from classical, jazz and world music. The music is often improvised and recorded in nature to reflect the qualities brought into play by the environment.
Winter was very early concerned with the possibilities that the bossa nova offered for jazz. In 1962 he went on tour with his sextet for the US State Department through 23 countries in South and Central America. In the same year his band was the first jazz ensemble to perform in the White House.
Rio is an album by Paul Winter and brazil's great young musicians recorded in september 1962 in Brazil.

COME WITH ME TO THE CASBAH - GANIMIAN & HIS ORIENTAL MUSIC

Charles 'Chick' Ganimian (1926-1988), was an Armenian-American professional musician and singer known for his virtuosity on the oud. Ganimian played the music of Anatolia, Turkey, and Armenia.
Chick Ganimian is very poorly represented on recordings. There are a few Nor-Ikes 78's, the great "Come with me to the Casbah" album, the two albums he recorded as a "side man" with jazz flutist Herbie Mann, and a few privately produced independent recordings. Ganimian only made one album "Come with me to the Casbah"(Atco,1960).

Le Sony'r Ra (born Herman Poole Blount, May 22, 1914 - May 30, 1993; aged 79), better known as Sun Ra, was an American jazz composer, bandleader, piano and synthesizer player, and poet known for his experimental music, "cosmic" philosophy, prolific output, and theatrical performances. For much of his career, Ra led "The Arkestra", an ensemble with an ever-changing name and flexible line-up.
Strange Celestial Road is an album by Sun Ra and his Arkestra recorded in New York in 1979 and originally released on the Rounder label.

A RAINBOW IN CURVED AIR - TERRY RILEY

Terrence Mitchell Riley (born June 24, 1935; age 86), is an American composer and performing musician, best known as a pioneer of the minimalist school of composition. Influenced by jazz and Indian classical music, his music became notable for its innovative use of repetition, tape music techniques, and delay systems. He produced his best known works in the 1960s: the 1964 composition In C and the 1969 LP A Rainbow in Curved Air, both considered landmarks of minimalism and important influences on experimental, rock, and contemporary electronic music.
A Rainbow in Curved Air is the third album by Terry Riley, released in 1969 on CBS Records. The title track consists of Riley's overdubbed improvisations on several keyboard and percussion instruments, including electric organ, electric harpsichord, dumbec, and tambourine.

Intonarumori is an album by the New York-based no wave music group Material, released in 1999.

Pharoah Sanders (born Farrell Sanders, October 13, 1940; age 81) is an American jazz saxophonist. A member of John Coltrane's groups of the mid-1960s, Sanders is known for his overblowing, harmonic, and multiphonic techniques on the saxophone, as well as his use of "sheets of sound". He has released over 30 albums as a leader and has collaborated extensively with Leon Thomas, Alice Coltrane and Rinai Maurice, among others.
Journey to the One is an album led by saxophonist Pharoah Sanders recorded in 1979 and released on the Theresa label.

宮沢 昭(みやざわ あきら、1927年12月6日 - 2000年7月6日; 72歳没)は、日本のジャズ・サクソフォーン奏者。長野県松本市生まれ。1944年陸軍戸山学校軍楽隊入隊、戦後米軍クラブなどで活動する。その後、守安祥太郎、秋吉敏子らと共演。1954年のモカンボ・ジャム・セッションでも演奏。1962年、アルバム「山女魚」を発表。1970年代には越路吹雪のリサイタル伴奏も務めた。釣りが趣味で、曲名やレコード・ジャケットにも採り上げた。2000年急性肺炎のため死去。
本作「いわな」は、1969年6月30日、7月14日に録音された。
