Phillip Johnston (born January 22, 1955; age 68) is an American saxophonist, composer, and author. He came to prominence in the 1980s as co-founder of The Microscopic Septet and went on to write extensively for films, particularly new scores for classic silent films from the early 20th Century.
Phillip Johnston's Big Trouble is an album by Phillip Johnston, recorded in 1992 and released on the Black Saint label.

The Art Ensemble of Chicago is an avant-garde jazz group that grew out of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM) in the late 1960s. The ensemble integrates many jazz styles and plays many instruments, including "little instruments": bells, bicycle horns, birthday party noisemakers, wind chimes, and various forms of percussion. The musicians would wear costumes and face paint while performing.
Live at Mandel Hall is a live album by the Art Ensemble of Chicago recorded at the University of Chicago's Mandel Hall on their return to Chicago from Europe in January 1972 and released on the Delmark label.

1999年、菊地成孔と共に立ち上げた『東京ザヴィヌルバッハ』によって、ジャズを中心に据えつつもアフリカ音楽やコンピュータ/電子楽器とも融合した斬新な音楽性をアピール。
本作『A CAT ON MODULAR』は、アナログ・モジュラー・パッチ・シンセサイザーだけによる作品。2013年リリース。

Herbert Jeffrey Hancock (born April 12, 1940; age 83) is an American jazz pianist, keyboardist, bandleader, composer, and occasional actor. Hancock started his career with trumpeter Donald Byrd's group. He shortly thereafter joined the Miles Davis Quintet, where he helped to redefine the role of a jazz rhythm section and was one of the primary architects of the post-bop sound.
Crossings is the tenth album by Herbie Hancock, released in 1972. It is the second album in his Mwandishi period, which saw him experimenting in electronics and funk with a sextet featuring saxophonist Bennie Maupin, trumpeter Eddie Henderson, trombonist Julian Priester, bassist Buster Williams and drummer Billy Hart. The album is the band's first to feature synthesizer player Patrick Gleeson.
