Leandro "Gato" Barbieri (28 November 1932 - 2 April 2016; aged 83) was an Argentine jazz tenor saxophonist who rose to fame during the free jazz movement in the 1960s and is known for his Latin jazz recordings of the 1970s. His nickname, Gato, is Spanish for "cat".

Stanley Getz (February 2, 1927 - June 6, 1991; aged 64) was an American jazz saxophonist. Getz performed in bebop and cool jazz groups. Influenced by Joao Gilberto and Antonio Carlos Jobim, he popularized bossa nova in the United States with the hit single "The Girl from Ipanema" (1964).
Captain Marvel is a jazz album by Stan Getz released in 1974 on the Columbia Records label.The album features performances by Getz with Chick Corea, who composed most of the material, Stanley Clarke, Airto Moreira and Tony Williams. Shortly before recording this album Corea, Clarke and Moreira had formed the core of the group Return to Forever.

Steven Mark Grossman (January 18, 1951 - August 13, 2020; aged 69) was an American jazz fusion and hard bop saxophonist.
Grossman was Wayne Shorter's replacement in Miles Davis's jazz-fusion band. Then, from 1971 to 1973, he was in Elvin Jones's band.
In New York is a 1991 live album by Steve Grossman with the McCoy Tyner Trio released on the Dreyfus label. It was recorded in September 1991 at Sweet Basil in New York City and features a live performance by Grossman and Tyner with bassist Avery Sharpe and drummer Art Taylor.

東京市蒲田区(東京都 大田区) 平成1年 8月18日 (1989年)没
伝説のジャズクラブ「銀座ジャズ・ギャラリー8」での活動を経て、本田竹広、渡辺文男らとグループを結成。昭和42年解散後は姿を消していたが、53年ジャズ界に復帰し、昭和54-58年山下トリオに参加。のち、渋谷毅のオーケストラに参加。身を刺すような音と強烈なリズム感で特異な存在であった。エルヴィン・ジョーンズとの共演など数々の伝説を残す。唯一のアルバムに「ジェントル・ノヴェンバー」がある。没後、アケタズ・ディスクによる「インフィニティ 武田ミーツ古沢」「アケタ・ミーツ・タケダ」がリリースされた。
「ジェントル・ノヴェンバー」は昭和54年(1979年)9月20-21日、埼玉県坂戸文化会館(無観客)で録音された。

阿部 薫(あべ かおる、1949年5月3日 - 1978年9月9日; 29歳没)は、フリー・ジャズのアルトサックスプレイヤー。他にソプラニーノサックス、バスクラリネット、ハーモニカ等もプレイする。神奈川県川崎市出身。演奏スタイルはフリーを基盤とした激情型。 ブロバリン98錠を過量服用して中毒死した。事故か自殺かは判明していない。生前は演出家芥正彦と交流がありイベントで共演していた。稲葉真弓による伝記風小説を原作にした映画『エンドレス・ワルツ』が町田康主演で、生前に阿部と交際があった若松孝二の監督によって制作された。元妻は作家の鈴木いづみ。歌手の坂本九は阿部の叔父(母の弟)である。

Dexter Gordon (February 27, 1923 - April 25, 1990; aged 67) was an American jazz tenor saxophonist. He was among the most influential early bebop musicians, which included other greats such as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Bud Powell. Gordon's height was 6 feet 6 inches (198 cm), so he was also known as "Long Tall Dexter" and "Sophisticated Giant". His studio and performance career spanned over 40 years.
Locksley Wellington Hampton (April 21, 1932 - November 18, 2021; aged 89) was an American jazz trombonist, composer and arranger. As his nickname "Slide" implies, Hampton's main instrument was slide trombone, but he also occasionally played tuba and flugelhorn.
A Day in Copenhagen is an album by Dexter Gordon with Slide Hampton recorded in Copenhagen in 1969 which was originally released on the MPS label in Europe and re-released on the Prestige label in the US.
