Gerald Joseph Mulligan (April 6, 1927 - January 20, 1996; aged 68), also known as Jeru, was an American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, composer and arranger. Though primarily known as one of the leading jazz baritone saxophonists - playing the instrument with a light and airy tone in the era of cool jazz - Mulligan was also a significant arranger, working with Claude Thornhill, Miles Davis, Stan Kenton, and others.
Night Lights is an album by American jazz saxophonist Gerry Mulligan featuring performances recorded in 1963 and first released on the Philips label.

Eli "Lucky" Thompson (June 16, 1924 – July 30, 2005; aged 81) was an American jazz tenor and soprano saxophonist whose playing combined elements of swing and bebop. Although John Coltrane usually receives the most credit for bringing the soprano saxophone out of obsolescence in the early 1960s, Thompson (along with Steve Lacy) embraced the instrument earlier than Coltrane.
I Offer You is an album by Lucky Thompson which was released in 1973 on the Groove Merchant label.

John Haley "Zoot" Sims (October 29, 1925 – March 23, 1985; aged 59) was an American jazz saxophonist, playing mainly tenor but also alto (and, later, soprano) saxophone.

Cecil Payne (December 14, 1922 – November 27, 2007; aged 84) was an American jazz baritone saxophonist born in Brooklyn, New York. Payne also played the alto saxophone and flute. He played with other prominent jazz musicians, in particular Dizzy Gillespie and Randy Weston, in addition to his solo work as bandleader.
Scotch and Milk is an album by Cecil Payne which was recorded in 1996 and released by the Delmark label the following year.

Pharoah Sanders (born Ferrell Lee Sanders; October 13, 1940 – September 24, 2022; aged 81) is an American jazz saxophonist. A member of John Coltrane's groups of the mid-1960s, Sanders is known for his overblowing, harmonic, and multiphonic techniques on the saxophone, as well as his use of "sheets of sound". He has released over 30 albums as a leader and has collaborated extensively with Leon Thomas, Alice Coltrane and Rinai Maurice, among others.
Shukuru is an album led by Pharoah Sanders recorded in 1981 and released on the Theresa label in 1985.

Robert Michael Watson Jr. (born August 23, 1953; age 69), known professionally as Bobby Watson, is an American saxophonist, composer, and educator. He graduated in 1975, moved to New York City, and became music director for the Jazz Messengers from 1977 to 1981. He formed the band Bobby Watson & Horizon with bassist Curtis Lundy and drummer Victor Lewis, with whom he played throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
Love Remains is an album by Robert Watson which was recorded in 1986 and released on the Italian Red label.

During his career he has recorded mostly with others, including with Eddie Gómez, Tony Williams, Bobby Hutcherson, Maria Schneider, McCoy Tyner, and Chick Corea.

Sidney Joseph Bechet (May 14, 1897 – May 14, 1959; aged 62) was an American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, and composer. He was one of the first important soloists in jazz, and first recorded several months before trumpeter Louis Armstrong. His erratic temperament hampered his career, and not until the late 1940s did he earn wide acclaim. Bechet spent much of his later life in France.
At Storyville is an album by Sidney Bechet which was recorded at the Storyville Club, Copley Square Hotel, Boston, 25th October 1953 and released on Black Lion Records.

Cornelius "Sonny" Fortune (May 19, 1939 – October 25, 2018; aged 79) was an American jazz saxophonist. Fortune played soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, clarinet, and flute.
In 1974, Fortune replaced Dave Liebman in Miles Davis's band, remaining until spring 1975. Fortune can be heard on the albums Big Fun, Get Up With It, Agharta, and Pangaea, the last two recorded live in Japan.
Monk's Mood is an album by Sonny Fortune which was recorded in 1993 and released on the Konnex Records.
