LITTLE JOHNNY C - JOHNNY COLES

John Coles (July 3, 1926 - December 21, 1997; aged 71) was an American jazz trumpeter. He was with James Moody from 1956 to 1958, and played with Gil Evans's orchestra between 1958 and 1964, including for the album Out of the Cool. After this he spent time with Charles Mingus in his sextet which also included Eric Dolphy, Clifford Jordan, Jaki Byard, and Dannie Richmond.
Little Johnny C is an album by Johnny Coles recorded in 1963 and released on the Blue Note label.

McKinley Howard "Kenny" Dorham (August 30, 1924 - December 5, 1972; aged 48) was an American jazz trumpeter, singer, and composer.
Afro-Cuban is an album by Kenny Dorham. The first release of the album dates back to 1955 on 10" Vinyl, featuring only four tracks and having a different cover artwork. Some time later, Blue Note decided to add three tracks and issue a more complete LP toward the end of May 1957.

Frederick Dewayne Hubbard (April 7, 1938 - December 29, 2008; aged 70) was an American jazz trumpeter. He played bebop, hard bop, and post-bop styles from the early 1960s onwards. His unmistakable and influential tone contributed to new perspectives for modern jazz and bebop.
Open Sesame is the debut album by Hubbard released on the Blue Note label in 1960 as BST 84040. It features performances by Hubbard, Tina Brooks, McCoy Tyner, Sam Jones and Clifford Jarvis.

INFINITY - LEE MORGAN

Edward Lee Morgan (July 10, 1938 - February 19, 1972; aged 33) was an American jazz trumpeter and composer. One of the key hard bop musicians of the 1960s, Morgan came to prominence in his late teens, recording on John Coltrane's Blue Train (1957) and with the band of drummer Art Blakey before launching a solo career. After leaving Blakey for the final time, Morgan continued to work prolifically as both a leader and a sideman with the likes of Hank Mobley and Wayne Shorter, becoming a cornerstone of the Blue Note label.
Infinity is an album by Lee Morgan released on the Blue Note label. It was recorded on November 16, 1965 but not released until 1981 and features performances by Morgan with a quintet featuring Jackie McLean, Larry Willis, Reggie Workman and Billy Higgins.

Thaddeus Joseph Jones (March 28, 1923 - August 20, 1986; aged 63) was an American jazz trumpeter, composer, and bandleader who has been called "one of the all-time greatest jazz trumpet soloists".
Jones left the Basie Orchestra in 1963 to become a freelance arranger and musician in New York City. In 1965, he and drummer Mel Lewis formed the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra. They began performing at the Village Vanguard in February 1966, to wide acclaim, and continued with Jones in the lead for 12 years.
Detroit-New York Junction is an album by Thad Jones featuring performances recorded in 1956 and released on the Blue Note label.

ASANTE - McCOY TYNER

Alfred McCoy Tyner (December 11, 1938 - March 6, 2020; aged 81) was an American jazz pianist and composer known for his work with the John Coltrane Quartet and a long solo career. He was an NEA Jazz Master and a five-time Grammy winner. Not a player of electric keyboards and synthesizers, he was committed to acoustic instrumentation. Tyner, who was widely imitated, is one of the most recognizable and most influential pianists in jazz history.
Asante is an album by McCoy Tyner released on the Blue Note label. It was recorded in 1970 and features performances by Tyner with Andrew White, Ted Dunbar, Buster Williams, Billy Hart, Mtume and "Songai" Sandra Smith providing vocals on two tracks.

From 1956 to 1970, he played in The Three Sounds trio with bassist Andy Simpkins and drummer Bill Dowdy. During this time, The Three Sounds recorded regularly for Blue Note and Verve.
Astral Signal is a soul/funk influenced jazz album recorded in 1975 by the jazz keyboard player Gene Harris.

The Three Sounds (also known as The 3 Sounds) were an American jazz piano trio that formed in 1956 and disbanded in 1973.
The band formed in Benton Harbor, Michigan, United States, as the Four Sounds. The original line-up consisted of Gene Harris on piano, Andrew Simpkins on double bass and Bill Dowdy on drums, along with saxophonist Lonnie "The Sound" Walker, who dropped out the following year.
