THE GENTLE GIANT - YUSEF LATEEF

Yusef Abdul Lateef (October 9, 1920 – December 23, 2013; aged 93) was an American jazz multi-instrumentalist, composer, and prominent figure among the Ahmadiyya Community in America. Although Lateef's main instruments were the tenor saxophone and flute, he also played oboe and bassoon, both rare in jazz, and non-western instruments such as the bamboo flute, shanai, shofar, xun, arghul and koto.
The Gentle Giant is an album by Yusef Lateef recorded in 1970-71 and released on the Atlantic label.

RADIO NIGHTS - CANNONBALL ADDERLEY

Julian Edwin "Cannonball" Adderley (September 15, 1928 - August 8, 1975; aged 46) was an American jazz alto saxophonist of the hard bop era of the 1950s and 1960s. Adderley is perhaps best remembered for the 1966 soul jazz single "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy", which was written for him by his keyboardist Joe Zawinul and became a major crossover hit on the pop charts. Adderley worked with Miles Davis, first as a member of the Davis sextet, appearing on the seminal records Milestones (1958) and Kind of Blue (1959), and then on his own 1958 album Somethin' Else.
Radio Nights is an album released in 1991 featuring previously unreleased live radio broadcasts by the Cannonball Adderley Quartet, Quintet and Sextet from New York City's Half Note Club jazz club. They were recorded by Alan Grant and broadcast live on radio in the last week of 1967 and the first week of 1968.

Leon Konitz (October 13, 1927 - April 15, 2020; aged 92) was an American composer and alto saxophonist.
He performed successfully in a wide range of jazz styles, including bebop, cool jazz, and avant-garde jazz. Konitz's association with the cool jazz movement of the 1940s and 1950s includes participation in Miles Davis's Birth of the Cool sessions and his work with pianist Lennie Tristano.
Stereokonitz is an album by Lee Konitz recorded in Italy in 1968 and released on the Italian RCA label.

Tjader played the vibraphone primarily, but was accomplished on the drums, bongos, congas, timpani, and the piano.

TO CHI KA - KAZUMI WATANABE

Kazumi Watanabe (渡辺 香津美, Watanabe Kazumi, born October 14, 1953 in Tokyo; age 70) is a Japanese guitarist.
Watanabe learned guitar at the age of 12 from Sadanori Nakamure at the Yamaha Music School in Tokyo. He released his first album in 1971. In 1979, he formed a jazz rock band with some of Japan's leading studio musicians, and recorded the album Kylyn. During that year, he toured with the pop band Yellow Magic Orchestra.
To Chi Ka is a fusion album by Kazumi Watanabe. It was recorded and mixed in March 1980 during a very prolific period for Watanabe and then released in May 1980.

Ahmed Abdul-Malik (born Jonathan Tim, Jr.; January 30, 1927 – October 2, 1993; aged 66) was an American jazz double bassist and oud player. Abdul-Malik is remembered for integrating Middle Eastern and North African music styles in his jazz music. He was a bass player for Art Blakey, Earl Hines, Randy Weston, and Thelonious Monk, among others.
Jazz Sahara is the debut album by Ahmed Abdul-Malik featuring performances recorded in late 1958 and originally released on the Riverside label.

Subroto Roy Chowdhury (born January 29, 1943 in Calcutta - May 22, 2017 in Berlin ) was an Indian sitar player of classical North Indian music , which he played in the traditional Dhrupad style, predominantly the Jaipur-Senia gharana , and in performed in a lighter khyal style. In addition to Calcutta, Chowdhury had a residence in Berlin. He gave regular concerts, especially in Germany and other European countries.
