"Zen and Bones"(禅と骨) is a documentary film that follows the Zen monk Henry Mittwer, born to an American father and a Japanese mother. Henry Mittwer was a Japanese-American born in Yokohama in 1918. He loved Japanese culture deeply and spent his later years as a Zen monk at Tenryu-ji Temple in Kyoto.
This album is the original soundtrack for the film. Junko Onishi (大西 順子, Ōnishi Junko, born April 16, 1967 in Kyoto) is a Japanese jazz pianist; she plays in the post-bop genre.

John Lee Hooker (August 22, 1912 or 1917 - June 21, 2001; aged 88) was an American blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist. The son of a sharecropper, he rose to prominence performing an electric guitar-style adaptation of Delta blues. Hooker was ranked 35 in Rolling Stone's 2015 list of 100 greatest guitarists.
That's My Story is a studio album by John Lee Hooker, released in April or May 1960 on Riverside Records. The album was recorded in one session on February 9, 1960 at Reeves Sound Studio in New York City. It was produced by Orrin Keepnews and features the rhythm section from saxophonist Cannonball Adderley's group, which included bassist Sam Jones and drummer Louis Hayes.

Albert Mangelsdorff (September 5, 1928 – July 25, 2005; aged 76) was a German jazz trombonist. Working mainly in free jazz, he was an innovator in multiphonics. He performed with pianist Chick Corea, cool jazz saxophonist Lee Konitz and bassist Jaco Pastorius. Mangelsdorff later worked with the NDR Big Band, the Globe Unity Orchestra, and the United Jazz + Rock Ensemble.
Birds of Underground is an album by Albert Mangelsdorff, recorded in 1972, Frankfurt and released on the MPS label.

The members are RIO on baritone saxophone, Koketsu,Masayo(纐纈雅代) on alto saxophone, Sato,Takayuki(佐藤敬幸) on alto saxophone, and Kamiunten,Junichi(上運天淳市) on tenor saxophone.
"SHIKANJU" is their first album, released on March 30th, 2019.

He is best known for his acclaimed collaborations with Miles Davis.
The Gil Evans Orchestra Plays the Music of Jimi Hendrix is an album of Jimi Hendrix's compositions by Gil Evans. The album was recorded in 1974 and performed by Evans with an orchestra featuring David Sanborn, Howard Johnson, Billy Harper, and John Abercrombie. The album was re-released with additional tracks on CD in 1988.

Kip Hanrahan (born December 9, 1954; age 70) is an American jazz music impresario, record producer and percussionist.
He produced a number of significant recordings by the nuevo tango master Astor Piazzolla in the last decade of Piazzolla's life, as well as recordings by Latin music figures including Jerry Gonzalez.
Hanrahan also worked with the poet Ishmael Reed on three recordings with the Conjure Ensemble, featuring Taj Mahal on this album.

Heat Wave is a 1982 studio album by vibraphonist Cal Tjader and jazz singer Carmen McRae. Tjader died four months after the completion of Heat Wave, it was his final recording. The album was arranged by pianists Mark Levine and Marshall Otwell. McRae and Tjader did not get on well during the recording, and Tjader later overdubbed his parts without McRae present.

Guys and Dolls Like Vibes is an album by Eddie Costa and his quartet, featuring pianist Bill Evans. It was recorded in 1958 and contains pieces from the 1950 musical Guys and Dolls.
