SWEDISH SCHNAPPS - CHARLIE PARKER

Charles "Charlie" Parker Jr. (August 29, 1920 - March 12, 1955; aged 34), nicknamed "Bird" and "Yardbird", was an American jazz saxophonist and composer.
Parker was a highly influential soloist and leading figure in the development of bebop, a form of jazz characterized by fast tempos, virtuosic technique, and advanced harmonies. Parker was a blazingly fast virtuoso and introduced revolutionary harmonic ideas into jazz, including rapid passing chords, new variants of altered chords, and chord substitutions. Primarily a player of the alto saxophone, Bird's tone ranged from clean and penetrating to sweet and somber.
Swedish Schnapps (The Genius of Charlie Parker, volume 8) is a Charlie Parker compilation album, released by Verve Records.

Frank Morgan (December 23, 1933 - December 14, 2007; aged 73) was a jazz saxophonist with a career spanning more than 50 years. He mainly played alto saxophone but also played soprano saxophone. He was known as a Charlie Parker successor who primarily played bebop and ballads.
Frank Morgan (also referred to as Gene Norman Presents Frank Morgan) is an album by Frank Morgan with trumpeter Conte Candoli and Machito's Rhythm Section which was recorded in 1955 and released on the Gene Norman Presents label(GNP). The album would be Morgan's only release for 30 years until his comeback in 1985.

Edward Hammond Boatner Jr. (February 2, 1924 - July 22, 1982; aged 58), known professionally as Sonny Stitt, was an American jazz saxophonist of the bebop/hard bop idiom. Known for his warm tone, he was one of the best-documented saxophonists of his generation, recording more than 100 albums. Stitt was sometimes viewed as a Charlie Parker mimic, especially earlier in his career, but gradually came to develop his own sound and style, particularly when performing on tenor saxophone.

SOUL TALK - LEO WRIGHT

Leo Wright (December 14, 1933 in Wichita Falls, Texas - January 4, 1991 in Vienna; aged 57) was an American jazz musician who played alto saxophone, flute and clarinet. He played with Charles Mingus, Booker Ervin, John Hardee, Kenny Burrell, Johnny Coles, Blue Mitchell and Dizzy Gillespie in the late 1950s, early 1960s and in the late 1970s. Relocating to Europe in 1963, Wright settled in Berlin and later Vienna. During this time he performed and recorded primarily in Europe, using European musicians or fellow American expatriates, such as Kenny Clarke and Art Farmer.
Soul Talk is an album by Leo Wright featuring performances recorded in 1963 for the Atlantic label but not released until 1970 on their Vortex subsidiary.

CANNONBALL IN EUROPE! - CANNONBALL ADDERLEY

Julian Edwin "Cannonball" Adderley (September 15, 1928 - August 8, 1975; aged 46) was an American jazz alto saxophonist of the hard bop era of the 1950s and 1960s.
Adderley is perhaps best remembered for the 1966 soul jazz single "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy", which was written for him by his keyboardist Joe Zawinul and became a major crossover hit on the pop charts. Adderley worked with Miles Davis, first as a member of the Davis sextet, appearing on the seminal records Milestones (1958) and Kind of Blue (1959), and then on his own 1958 album Somethin' Else. He was the elder brother of jazz trumpeter Nat Adderley, who was a longtime member of his band.
Cannonball in Europe! is a live album by Cannonball Adderley recorded at the Comblain-la-Tour in Belgium, August 4 & 5 1962, and released on the Capitol label.

Paul Winter (born August 31, 1939; age 82) is an American saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. He is a pioneer of world music and "earth music", which interweaves the voices of the wild with instrumental voices from classical, jazz and world music. The music is often improvised and recorded in nature to reflect the qualities brought into play by the environment.
Winter was very early concerned with the possibilities that the bossa nova offered for jazz. In 1962 he went on tour with his sextet for the US State Department through 23 countries in South and Central America. In the same year his band was the first jazz ensemble to perform in the White House.
