STARDUST - WILLIE NELSON

Willie Hugh Nelson (born April 29, 1933; age 88) is an American musician, actor, and activist. The critical success of the album Shotgun Willie (1973), combined with the critical and commercial success of Red Headed Stranger (1975) and Stardust (1978), made Nelson one of the most recognized artists in country music. He was one of the main figures of outlaw country, a subgenre of country music that developed in the late 1960s as a reaction to the conservative restrictions of the Nashville sound.
Stardust is the 22nd studio album by Willie Nelson, released in April 1978. Its ten songs consist entirely of pop standards that Nelson picked from among his favorites.

Shadows and Light is a 1980 live double album by Joni Mitchell. It was recorded at the Santa Barbara Bowl in September 1979 on Mitchell's Mingus tour. It was released as an LP on October 25, 1980, on the Asylum label. A film of the concert was also released on VHS, LaserDisc and DVD in 2003.

Theodore Roosevelt "Hound Dog" Taylor (April 12, 1915 - December 17, 1975; aged 60) was a Chicago blues guitarist and singer.
He was known for his electrified slide guitar playing (roughly styled after that of Elmore James), his cheap Japanese Teisco guitars, and his raucous boogie beats.
Hound Dog Taylor and the HouseRockers is the 1971 debut album of Hound Dog Taylor. Originally issued on LP as the first release on the Alligator label, it has subsequently been reissued on CD.

Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown (April 18, 1924 – September 10, 2005; aged 81) was an American singer and multi-instrumentalist from Louisiana known for his work as a blues musician. He spent his career fighting purism by synthesizing traditional blues and country, jazz, Cajun music and R&B. Brown was acclaimed for his skills on multiple instruments, including the guitar, mandolin, viola, violin, harmonica and drums.

Otis Verries Hicks, known as Lightnin' Slim (March 13, 1913 - July 27, 1974; aged 61), was an American Louisiana blues musician, who recorded for Excello Records and played in a style similar to its other Louisiana artists. He is one of the five great bluesmen of the 1950s, along with Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf and Sonny Boy Williamson.
Rooster Blues is the 1960 debut album of Lightnin' Slim.

He arranged jazz interpretations of many of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, such as the Goldberg Variations. The Jacques Loussier Trio, founded in 1959, played more than 3,000 concerts and sold more than 7 million recordings—mostly in the Bach series. Loussier composed film scores and a number of classical pieces, including a Mass, a ballet, and violin concertos. His style is described as third stream, a synthesis of jazz and classical music, with an emphasis on improvisation.

Madvillain was an American hip hop duo consisting of two MCs and producers, MF Doom and Madlib. Their debut album Madvillainy was met with wide critical acclaim for its unique approach. Their short songs, obscure lyrics, and lack of choruses made for a sound that was generally unfriendly to commercial radio, but was lauded as a key aspect of their identity as an underground act.
Madvillainy is the only studio album by Madvillain, consisting of rapper MF Doom and producer Madlib. It was released on March 23, 2004, on Stones Throw Records.

Yankees is an album of improvised music by Derek Bailey, John Zorn & George Lewis. The album was released as an LP by Celluloid in 1983 and was reissued on CD by Celluloid (from a vinyl source) and Charly (from the original master tape). It was the first recorded meeting of John Zorn and Derek Bailey. The two men would later release the album, Harras, with William Parker in 1993. Zorn and Lewis would collaborate further on News for Lulu (1988) and More News for Lulu (1993) with Bill Frisell.
