EL "RAY" CRIOLLO - RAY BARRETTO

Raymundo "Ray" Barretto Pagán (April 29, 1929 – February 17, 2006; aged 76) was an American percussionist and bandleader of Puerto Rican descent. Throughout his career as a percussionist, he played a wide variety of Latin music styles, as well as Latin jazz. In the late 1960s, Barretto became one of the leading exponents of boogaloo and what would later be known as salsa. A master of the descarga (improvised jam session), Barretto was a long-time member of the Fania All-Stars.

VIVA CUBOP / Jazz the Afro-Cuban Way - VARIOUS ARTISTS

Afro-Cuban jazz is the earliest form of Latin jazz. It mixes Afro-Cuban clave-based rhythms with jazz harmonies and techniques of improvisation. In 1947, the collaborations of bebop trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie and percussionist Chano Pozo brought Afro-Cuban rhythms and instruments. Such as were commonly referred to as "Cubop" for Cuban bebop.
Viva Cubop is compilation album released on the Ubiquity Recordings/Cubop in 1999.

TOUGH! - PUCHO & The Latin Soul Brothers

Pucho & His Latin Soul Brothers was a Latin jazz, soul jazz and R&B group formed in 1959 by timbales player Henry "Pucho" Brown. Of the many musicians that worked in his group, Chick Corea is among them. In 1973 he disbanded the group and focused more on traditional Latin music. In the 1990s, his music received interest from the British Acid Jazz scene.
Tough! is debut album by Pucho & The Latin Soul Brothers which was recorded in 1966 and released on Prestige label.

Duets is Anthology of Compay Segundo's duos which was released in 2001.

introducing... RUBÉN GONZÁLEZ

Rubén González Fontanills (26 May 1919 – 8 December 2003; aged 84) was a Cuban pianist. Together with Lilí Martínez and Peruchín he is said to have "forged the style of modern Cuban piano playing in the 1940s". Between the 1940s and his retirement in the 1980s, he played with Cuba's most successful acts. In the 1990s, he came out of retirement to play in the revival ensembles Afro-Cuban All Stars and Buena Vista Social Club, also recording solo material and performing live until 2002.
Introducing... Rubén González is the second studio album by Rubén González. It was recorded at EGREM studios in Havana, Cuba, during April 1996, as the last of the sessions that also yielded the albums A Toda Cuba le Gusta and Buena Vista Social Club.

The Fania All-Stars is a musical group formed in 1968 as a showcase for the musicians on Fania Records, the leading salsa music record label of the time.
In 1964, Fania Records was founded in New York City by Jerry Masucci, an Italian-American lawyer with a love for Cuban music, and Johnny Pacheco, a flutist, percussionist and bandleader born in the Dominican Republic. In 1968, Fania Records created a continuously revolving line-up of entertainers known as the Fania All-Stars.
Rhythm Machine is studio album by The Fania All-Stars, released in 1977.
