LITTLE GIRL BLUE - NINA SIMONE

Eunice Kathleen Waymon (February 21, 1933 - April 21, 2003; aged 70), known professionally as Nina Simone, was an American singer, songwriter, musician, arranger, and civil rights activist. Her music spanned a broad range of musical styles including classical, jazz, blues, folk, R&B, gospel, and pop.
Little Girl Blue is the debut album by Nina Simone. It was released by Bethlehem Records in February 1959. She immediately sold the rights for the album to Bethlehem for $3,000. This deal eventually cost her royalty profits of more than a million dollars.

Sarah Lois Vaughan (March 27, 1924 - April 3, 1990; aged 66) was an American jazz singer. Nicknamed "Sassy" and "The Divine One", she won four Grammy Awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award. She was given an NEA Jazz Masters Award in 1989.
¡Viva! Vaughan is a 1965 studio album by Sarah Vaughan, orchestrated and conducted by Frank Foster, and produced by Quincy Jones.

夜のためいき - 松尾和子

松尾和子(まつお かずこ、1935年5月17日 - 1992年9月25日;57歳没)は、日本の歌手。1959年には「グッド・ナイト/東京ナイト・クラブ」でレコードデビュー。「グッド~」は和田弘とマヒナスターズ、「東京~」はフランク永井との共唱。そして、第2弾として発売した「誰よりも君を愛す」(マヒナとの共唱)が大ヒットし、それと共に「グッド~/東京ナイト~」もつられる形で大ヒット。「誰よりも~」は第2回レコード大賞を受賞、「東京ナイト~」はその後長らくデュエットソングの定番として根強い人気を博し、松尾の名は一躍スターダムへとのし上がり、後に「ムード歌謡の女王」と称されるようになった。1960年にはソロで吹き込んだ「再会」がヒット。その後も「夜がわるい」「お座敷小唄」「再会の朝」「銀座ブルース」とコンスタントにヒット曲を出していった。
「夜のためいき」は、1966年にレコーディングされ、日本ビクターよりリリースされた。

Aux Armes et Cætera is the thirteenth studio album by Serge Gainsbourg, released in the early spring of 1979. It was recorded in Kingston, Jamaica, with some of the island's best reggae musicians.

ASK THE AGES - SONNY SHARROCK

Warren Harding "Sonny" Sharrock (August 27, 1940 - May 25, 1994; aged 53) was an American jazz guitarist. He was married to singer Linda Sharrock, with whom he recorded and performed.
One of few guitarists in the first wave of free jazz in the 1960s, Sharrock was known for his heavily chorded attack, his highly amplified bursts of feedback, and his use of saxophone-like lines played loudly on guitar.
Ask the Ages (1991) was the last album released by Sonny Sharrock before his death in 1994. It was produced by Bill Laswell and Sharrock, who performed with saxophonist Pharoah Sanders, bassist Charnett Moffett, and drummer Elvin Jones.

A member of John Coltrane's groups of the mid-1960s, Sanders is known for his overblowing, harmonic, and multiphonic techniques on the saxophone, as well as his use of "sheets of sound". He has released over 30 albums as a leader and has collaborated extensively with Leon Thomas, Alice Coltrane and Rinai Maurice, among others.
