Cecil Percival Taylor (March 25, 1929 - April 5, 2018; aged 89) was an American pianist and poet. Taylor was classically trained and was one of the pioneers of free jazz. His music is characterized by an energetic, physical approach, resulting in complex improvisation often involving tone clusters and intricate polyrhythms. His technique has been compared to percussion.

渋谷 毅（しぶや たけし、1939年11月3日 ; 82歳）は、日本のジャズピアニスト、作曲家、編曲家。東京都生まれ。東京芸術大学音楽学部作曲科中退。妻は同じくピアニストの清水くるみ。1960年代前半より作曲家・編曲家として歌謡曲、映画、CMなど数多くの作品を手がける。1986年に従来の典型的なビッグバンド・スタイルから解放された “渋谷毅オーケストラ” を結成。浅川マキ、金子マリ、木村充揮、酒井俊、小川美潮、小沢健二などのヴォーカリストのギグやジャム、レコーディングに参加。 80代を迎えてからも、バンドをはじめ、世代・ジャンルを越えたセッション、ピアノソロなど、多彩で旺盛な演奏活動を行っている。

Monk is the second-most-recorded jazz composer after Duke Ellington.
Underground is the seventh studio album that Thelonious Monk recorded 1967-1968 on Columbia Records. It features Monk on piano, Larry Gales on bass, Charlie Rouse on tenor sax, and Ben Riley on drums. Its cover image depicts Monk as a French Resistance fighter in the Second World War. It won the Grammy Award for Best Album Cover.
