He is considered one of history's great jazz pianists, and played thousands of concerts worldwide in a career lasting more than 60 years.

Douglas Clare Fischer (October 22, 1928 – January 26, 2012; aged 83) was an American keyboardist, composer, arranger, and bandleader. He became the pianist and arranger for the vocal group the Hi-Lo's in the late 1950s. He was nominated for eleven Grammy Awards during his lifetime, winning for his landmark album, 2+2 (1981).
Surging Ahead is the second album by Clare Fischer, released in 1963 by Pacific Jazz Records.

Randolph Edward "Randy" Weston (April 6, 1926 - September 1, 2018; aged 92) was an American jazz pianist and composer whose creativity was inspired by his ancestral African connection. Weston's piano style owed much to Duke Ellington and Thelonious Monk, whom he cited in a 2018 video as among pianists he counted as influences, as well as Count Basie, Nat King Cole and Earl Hines.

Michel Petrucciani (28 December 1962 – 6 January 1999; aged 36) was a French jazz pianist. From birth he had osteogenesis imperfecta, a genetic disease that causes brittle bones and, in his case, short stature. He became one of the most accomplished jazz pianists of his generation despite his health condition and very short life span.
Estate is an album by Michel Petrucciani. It was recorded in the Forum Recording Studio, Rome during the spring of 1982. The title is the Italian word for "summer".

His music is characterized by an energetic, physical approach, resulting in complex improvisation often involving tone clusters and intricate polyrhythms. His technique has been compared to percussion.

Alan Warren Haig (July 19, 1922 - November 16, 1982; aged 60) was an American jazz pianist, best known as one of the pioneers of bebop. The Gillespie quintet, which included Haig, recorded four 78 r.p.m. sides for Guild Records in May 1945 which are regarded as the first recordings to demonstrate all elements of the mature bebop style. He was part of the nonet on the first session of Miles Davis' Birth of the Cool.

John William Coltrane (September 23, 1926 - July 17, 1967; aged 40) was an American jazz saxophonist and composer. Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes and was at the forefront of free jazz.

At Carnegie Hall is a live album by The Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane. It was recorded on 29 November 1957 at "Thanksgiving Jazz", a benefit concert produced by Kenneth Lee Karpe for the Morningside Community Center in Harlem. The tape was stored at the Library of Congress where it sat untouched, until 2005 when it was discovered by recording lab supervisor Larry Appelbaum. The recording was then restored by producer Michael Cuscuna and T.S. Monk (Thelonious Monk's son).

THE NEW STANDARD - HERBIE HANCOCK

Herbert Jeffrey Hancock (born April 12, 1940; age 82) is an American jazz pianist, keyboardist, bandleader, composer, and occasional actor. Hancock started his career with trumpeter Donald Byrd's group. He shortly thereafter joined the Miles Davis Quintet, where he helped to redefine the role of a jazz rhythm section and was one of the primary architects of the post-bop sound. In the 1970s, Hancock experimented with jazz fusion, funk, and electro styles, utilizing a wide array of synthesizers and electronics.
The New Standard is the fortieth album by Herbie Hancock, released in 1996 on Verve. It consists of jazz renditions of classic and contemporaneous rock and R&B songs. It features an all-star sextet with saxophonist Michael Brecker, guitarist John Scofield, bassist Dave Holland, percussionist Don Alias and drummer Jack DeJohnette.
