John Patton (July 12, 1935 - March 19, 2002; aged 66) was an American jazz, blues and R&B pianist and organist often known by his nickname, Big John Patton.
Patton was one of the most in-demand organists during the golden era of the Hammond B-3 organs between 1963 and 1970. He recorded extensively for Blue Note and performed or collaborated with Lloyd Price, Grant Green, and Lou Donaldson.

New York Is Now! is an album by Ornette Coleman released on the Blue Note label in 1968. The album sees Coleman accompanied by John Coltrane's former bandmates, drummer Elvin Jones and bassist Jimmy Garrison, and by tenor sax player Dewey Redman.

Herbert Jeffrey Hancock (born April 12, 1940; age 81) is an American jazz pianist, keyboardist, bandleader, composer, and occasional actor. Hancock started his career with trumpeter Donald Byrd’s group. He shortly thereafter joined the Miles Davis Quintet, where he helped to redefine the role of a jazz rhythm section and was one of the primary architects of the post-bop sound. In the 1970s, Hancock experimented with jazz fusion, funk, and electro styles, utilizing a wide array of synthesizers and electronics. It was during this period that he released perhaps his best-known and most influential album, Head Hunters.
Inventions & Dimensions is the third album by Herbie Hancock, recorded on August 30, 1963 for Blue Note Records.

Andrew Hill (June 30, 1931 - April 20, 2007; aged 75) was an American jazz pianist and composer.
Jazz critic John Fordham described Hill as a "uniquely gifted composer, pianist and educator" although "his status remained largely inside knowledge in the jazz world for most of his career." Hill recorded for Blue Note Records for nearly a decade, producing a dozen albums.
Black Fire is a studio album by Andrew Hill, released on Blue Note Records in 1964. It was Hill's debut for the label. Initially, Philly Joe Jones was scheduled to play on the album, but was replaced by Roy Haynes after scheduling issues.
