William John Evans (August 16, 1929 - September 15, 1980; aged 51) was an American jazz pianist and composer who mostly worked as the leader of a trio. His use of impressionist harmony, interpretation of traditional jazz repertoire, block chords, and trademark rhythmically independent, "singing" melodic lines continues to influence jazz pianists today.

Jarrett started his career with Art Blakey, moving on to play with Charles Lloyd and Miles Davis. Since the early 1970s he has enjoyed a great deal of success as a group leader and a solo performer in jazz, jazz fusion, and classical music. His improvisations draw from the traditions of jazz and other genres, especially Western classical music, gospel, blues, and ethnic folk music.
Byablue is one of the last albums recorded by the so-called 'American Quartet' of Keith Jarrett. It was recorded in October 1976 in two sessions that also helped produce the album Bop-Be.

He was called the "Maharaja of the keyboard" by Duke Ellington, simply "O.P." by his friends, and informally in the jazz community as "the King of inside swing". He is considered one of history's great jazz pianists, and played thousands of concerts worldwide in a career lasting more than 60 years.
Oscar Peterson Jam – Montreux '77 is a 1977 live album featuring a jam session led by Oscar Peterson. At the Grammy Awards of 1979, Peterson won the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Performance by a Soloist for his performance on this album.

Thomas Lee Flanagan (March 16, 1930 - November 16, 2001; aged 71) was an American jazz pianist and composer. Within months of moving to New York in 1956, he had recorded with Miles Davis and on Sonny Rollins' landmark Saxophone Colossus. Recordings under various leaders, including the historically important Giant Steps of John Coltrane, and The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery, continued well into 1962.
Bash! (also released as Modern Mainstream) is an album by jazz drummer Dave Bailey which was originally released on the Jazzline label in 1961 but the album was re-released as Tommy Flanagan Trio And Sextet on the Onyx label and on the Xanadu label in 1973.
