Stanley Getz (February 2, 1927 - June 6, 1991; aged 64) was an American jazz saxophonist. Getz performed in bebop and cool jazz groups. Influenced by Joao Gilberto and Antonio Carlos Jobim, he popularized bossa nova in the United States with the hit single "The Girl from Ipanema" (1964).
Charlie Lee Byrd (September 16, 1925 - December 2, 1999; aged 74) was an American jazz guitarist. Byrd was best known for his association with Brazilian music, especially bossa nova. In 1962, he collaborated with Stan Getz on the album Jazz Samba.

The most talented bossa nova group of the '60s, Tamba Trio perfected a breezy, swinging version of bossa vocal-pop that proved incredibly influential in Brazil and throughout the world. In 1968, Eça and Bebeto re-formed the band (with Dorio Ferreira on bass and Ohana on drums) as Tamba 4. The group's two albums for Creed Taylor through CTI/A&M, We and the Sea and Samba Blim.

Caetano Emanuel Viana Telles Veloso (born August 7, 1942; age 81) is a Brazilian composer, singer, guitarist, writer, and political activist. Veloso first became known for his participation in the Brazilian musical movement Tropicalismo, which encompassed theatre, poetry and music in the 1960s, at the beginning of the Brazilian military dictatorship that took power in 1964.
Caetano Veloso is the debut solo album by the artist of the same name, released in Brazil in 1968. He had released Domingo the year before in collaboration with Gal Costa. Sounds from psychedelia, rock, pop, Indian music, bossa nova, Bahian music and other genres appear on the album.
