Howard McGhee (March 6, 1918 – July 17, 1987; aged 69) was one of the first American bebop jazz trumpeters, with Dizzy Gillespie, Fats Navarro and Idrees Sulieman. He was known for his fast fingering and high notes. He had an influence on younger bebop trumpeters such as Fats Navarro.

TONY FRUSCELLA

Tony Fruscella (February 4, 1927 – August 14, 1969; aged 42) was an American jazz trumpeter.
He worked as a sideman in the 1950s for Charlie Barnet, Lester Young, Gerry Mulligan (1954), and Stan Getz(1955). He played with Don Joseph later in the 1950s, but by the early 1960s his problems with drug abuse and alcoholism prevented him from performing. He was married to singer Morgana King. The marriage ended in divorce after nine years.

Wallace Roney (May 25, 1960 - March 31, 2020; aged 59) was an American jazz (hard bop and post-bop) trumpeter.
Roney took lessons from Clark Terry and Dizzy Gillespie and studied with Miles Davis from 1985 until the latter's death in 1991. Wallace Roney died at the age of 59 on March 31, 2020, at St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. The cause was complications arising from COVID-19.
The Standard Bearer is the third album by Wallace Roney which was recorded in 1989 and released on the Muse label early the following year.
