Charles Mingus Jr. (April 22, 1922 - January 5, 1979; aged 56) was an American jazz double bassist, pianist, composer and bandleader. A major proponent of collective improvisation, he is considered to be one of the greatest jazz musicians and composers in history, with a career spanning three decades and collaborations with other jazz musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Herbie Hancock.
The Clown is a studio album by Charles Mingus. It was released in September 1957 through Atlantic Records.

Severino Dias de Oliveira (May 26, 1930 - December 14, 2006; aged 76), known professionally as Sivuca, was a Brazilian accordionist, guitarist and singer. In addition to his home state of Paraiba, Brazil, and cities Recife and Rio de Janeiro, he worked and lived in Paris, Lisbon, and New York City intermittently. He used makeshift instruments alongside conventional ones and combined traditional regional styles such as forro and choro with jazz, bossa nova, and classical music.
Pau Doido is an album by Sivuca, released in 1992 on the Kuarup label.

Keith Edward Elam (July 17, 1961 – April 19, 2010; aged 48), better known by his stage name Guru (a backronym for Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal), was an American rapper, record producer and actor. He was a member of the hip hop duo Gang Starr, along with DJ Premier. Guru died on April 19, 2010, from myeloma at age 48.
Jazzmatazz, Volume 1: An Experimental Fusion of Hip-Hop and Jazz, is the debut solo studio album by Guru. It was released on May 18, 1993, by Chrysalis Records.

Batida is a Dutch Brazilian fusion group formed around percussionist Nippy Noya and female vocalist Jose Koning.
The group released three albums: Batida (1984), Terra Do Sul (1987), and Tudo Bem (1992). Vocalist Jose has since released numerous solo albums under the name Josee Koning.
The members of the debut album Batida (1984) were Jose Koning (vocals), Nippy Noya (percussion), Bart Fermie (percussion, vocals), Theo De Jong (b, keys), and Gerhard Jeltes (ds).

Dusko Goykovich (14 October 1931 – 5 April 2023; aged 91) is a Serbian and Yugoslav jazz trumpeter, composer, and arranger. Goykovich played with Chet Baker, Stan Getz, and Oscar Pettiford. In 1958, he performed at Newport Jazz Festival and drew attention on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. He worked with the Kenny Clarke/Francy Boland Big Band from 1968–1973.
Ten to Two Blues is an album by Dusko Goykovich released in 1971 on the Ensayo label.

Filles de Kilimanjaro (French: Girls of Kilimanjaro) is a studio album by the American jazz trumpeter Miles Davis. It was recorded in June and September 1968 at Columbia 30th Street Studio in Manhattan, New York City, and released on Columbia Records in December of that year in the United Kingdom and in the United States the following February. The album is a transitional work for Davis, who was shifting stylistically from acoustic post-bop recordings with his Second Great Quintet to the jazz fusion of his subsequent "electric period". Filles de Kilimanjaro was well received by contemporary music critics, who viewed it as a significant release in modern jazz.
