GEORGES ARVANITAS QUARTET

Georges Arvanitas (June 13, 1931 - September 25, 2005; aged 74) was a French jazz pianist and organist. He was born in Marseille, a child of Greek immigrants from Constantinople. His influences included Bud Powell and Bill Evans. In the late 1950s, he featured on albums by Art Farmer and Louis Hayes, and played with Dexter Gordon and Johnny Griffin. He also worked with Yusef Lateef. This album is released in 1987 on the Carrere label , France. It is performances by Georges Arvanitas (piano, el-piano), Jacky Samson (bass), Charles Saudrais (drums), Michel Goldberg (tenor, alto, soprano).

BARNEY - BARNEY WILEN

Bernard "Barney" Jean Wilen (4 March 1937 - 25 May 1996; aged 59) was a French tenor and soprano saxophonist and jazz composer.
His career was boosted in 1957, when he worked with Miles Davis on the soundtrack for the Louis Malle film Ascenseur pour l'Echafaud (Elevator to the Gallows). In 1959, Wilen wrote his two soundtracks Un Temoin Dans la Ville and Jazz sur scene with Kenny Clarke. He wrote a soundtrack for Roger Vadim's film Les Liaisons Dangereuses two years later, working with Thelonious Monk.
Barney is an album by Barney Wilen released in 1960 on RCA label (France).

Serge Gainsbourg (2 April 1928 - 2 March 1991; aged 62) was a French musician, singer-songwriter, author, filmmaker and actor. Regarded as the most important figure in French pop whilst alive, he was renowned for often provocative and scandalous releases which caused uproar in France, dividing its public opinion, as well as his diverse artistic output, which ranged from his early work in jazz, chanson, and ye-ye to later efforts in rock, funk, reggae, and electronica. He is often regarded as one of the world's most influential popular musicians.
Love on the Beat is a 1984 studio album by Serge Gainsbourg. On this album, Gainsbourg used American musicians to achieve a funk-heavy rock sound. The album was controversial due to its very sexual lyrical content, with homosexuality and prostitution as the subject matters on many of the tracks.

SAUDADE - PIERRE BAROUH

Pierre Barouh (born Elie Pierre Barouh; 19 February 1934 - 28 December 2016; aged 82) was a French writer-composer-singer best known for his work on Claude Lelouch's film A Man and a Woman both as actor, and as lyricist/singer for Francis Lai's music for the film.
He established a recording studio and welcomed other artists, using it to advance the talent of others and creating his own label Saravah in 1965. With the label he wished to mix musicians and styles, to multiply musical encounters. He worked, notably, with Pierre Akendengue, Areski Belkacem, Brigitte Fontaine, Nana Vasconcelos, Gerard Ansaloni, Jacques Higelin, Alfred Panou, Maurane, David McNeil, Elis Regina.
This album is a compilation album of Pierre Barouh's precious sound sources from the early 1960s.

Baden Powell de Aquino (6 August 1937 - 26 September 2000; aged 63), known professionally as Baden Powell, was a Brazilian guitarist. He combined classical techniques with popular harmony and swing. He performed in many styles, including bossa nova, samba, Brazilian jazz, Latin jazz and MPB.
This album was recorded when American percussionist Jimmy Pratt visited Brazil in 1963.
