Along with George Benson, John Klemmer, David Sanborn, Bob James, Chuck Mangione, Dave Grusin, Herb Alpert, and Spyro Gyra, he is considered by many to be one of the founders of the smooth jazz genre.
Mister Magic is the fourth album by Grover Washington Jr., released in February 1975. The album topped both the soul and jazz albums chart and peaked at number ten on the pop chart.

Bernard "Barney" Jean Wilen (4 March 1937 - 25 May 1996; aged 59) was a French tenor and soprano saxophonist and jazz composer. His career was boosted in 1957, when he worked with Miles Davis on the soundtrack for the Louis Malle film Ascenseur pour l'Echafaud (Elevator to the Gallows). In 1959, Wilen wrote his two soundtracks Un Temoin Dans la Ville and Jazz sur scene with Kenny Clarke.
Passione is an album by Barney Wilen which was recorded in Paris,1995 and released on the Japanese Venus label.

He considered Johnny Hodges, an alto saxophonist in the Ellington orchestra, a major influence on his playing.
Saturday Night at the Montmartre is released on the Black Lion, 1974 and reissued on CD in expanded form as Stormy Weather on the Black Lion, 1988.

Tomoki Takahashi (高橋知己 August 12, 1950 in Tokoro, Hokkaido, Japan; age 73) is Japanese jazz sax player. Debuted at Shinjuku PIT INN in 1972 with his own quartet . In the 70s, in addition to his own quartet, he also performed with Shigeharu Mukai 5, Ryojiro Furusawa Group, Takeo Moriyama 4, etc. Moving to the US in 1983 and appearing with E. Jones at "Village Vanguard".
"Nothin' But Coltrane" is an album by Takahashi Tomoki Quartet recorded in 2006 and released on the Aketa's Disk.
