SHAFT - ISAAC HAYES

Isaac Lee Hayes Jr. (August 20, 1942 – August 10, 2008; aged 65) was an American singer, actor, songwriter, and composer. He was one of the creative forces behind the Southern soul music label Stax Records, where he served both as an in-house songwriter and as a session musician and record producer, teaming with his partner David Porter during the mid-1960s. In 2002, Hayes was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Shaft is an album by Isaac Hayes, recorded for Stax Records' Enterprise label as the soundtrack LP for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's 1971 blaxploitation film Shaft. A commercial and critical success, Shaft is Hayes' best-known work and the best-selling LP ever released on a Stax label.

Curtis Lee Mayfield (June 3, 1942 - December 26, 1999; aged 57) was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer, and one of the most influential musicians behind soul and politically conscious African-American music. He first achieved success and recognition with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted group The Impressions during the civil rights movement of the late 1950s and 1960s, and later worked as a solo artist.
Curtis is the debut album by Curtis Mayfield, released in September 1970. Produced by Mayfield, it was released on his own label Curtom Records. The album's subject matter incorporates political and social concerns of the time.

She is considered one of the most influential jazz vocalists of the 20th century and is remembered for her behind-the-beat phrasing and ironic interpretation of lyrics. McRae was inspired by Billie Holiday, but she established her own voice. She recorded over sixty albums and performed worldwide.

CHEAP THRILLS - BIG BROTHER & THE HOLDING COMPANY

Big Brother and the Holding Company is an American rock band that formed in San Francisco in 1965 as part of the same psychedelic music scene that produced the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Jefferson Airplane. After some initial personnel changes, the band became well known with the lineup of vocalist Janis Joplin, guitarists Sam Andrew and James Gurley, bassist Peter Albin, and drummer Dave Getz. Joplin left the band in 1968, following the recording of Cheap Thrills, for a successful solo career.
Cheap Thrills is the second studio album by Big Brother and the Holding Company. It was their last album with Janis Joplin as lead singer before she started a solo career. Cheap Thrills reached number one on the charts for eight nonconsecutive weeks in 1968.

ELECTRIC WARRIOR - T.REX

T. Rex (originally Tyrannosaurus Rex) were an English rock band, formed in 1967 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Marc Bolan, who was their leader, frontman and only consistent member. Though initially associated with the psychedelic folk genre, Bolan began to change the band's style towards electric rock in 1969, and shortened their name to T. Rex the following year. This development culminated in 1970 with their first hit single "Ride a White Swan", and the group soon became pioneers of the glam rock movement.
Electric Warrior is the second studio album by T. Rex, their sixth since their debut as Tyrannosaurus Rex. The album marked a turning point in the band's sound, moving away from the folk-oriented sound of the group's previous albums and pioneering a more flamboyant, pop-friendly glam rock style.

Fairground Attraction was a London based folk and soft rock band. They are notable for the 1988 hit songs "Perfect" and "Find My Love", both taken from the group's multi-platinum selling debut album, The First of a Million Kisses. The band won two Brit Awards in 1989, but split the following year. Lead vocalist Eddi Reader subsequently launched a solo career.
