Elis Regina Carvalho Costa (March 17, 1945 - January 19, 1982; aged 36), known professionally as Elis Regina, was a Brazilian singer of popular and jazz music, she is also the mother of the singers Maria Rita and Pedro Mariano. Her untimely death, at the age of 36, shocked Brazil.
This album was recorded by Elis Regina in 1969 in London, England in just one day.

Silvia(Sylvia) Telles (August 27, 1934 - December 17, 1966; aged 32) was a Brazilian jazz samba and bossa nova singer of the 1950s and 1960s. Telles preceded the advent of bossa nova, and began covering songs by such influential composers as Antonio Carlos Jobim, and worked with others such as Luiz Bonfa. One of the most famous classic bossa nova songs was written for her by Jobim, its namesake her nickname - "Dindi".
She had made her first trip to the United States, recording U.S.A. (1961) with Barney Kessel(g) for Philips.

Amina Claudine Myers (born March 21, 1942 ; age 79) is an American jazz pianist, organist, vocalist, composer, and arranger. She also attended classes at Roosevelt University and worked with musicians such as Sonny Stitt and Gene Ammons. She was one of the performers at the AACM's second concert. In the late 1960s, Myers added "Amina" to her name.
Jumping in the Sugar Bowl is the fourth album by Amina Claudine Myers featuring performances recorded in 1984 for the Minor Music label.

Thelonious Sphere Monk (October 10, 1917 - February 17, 1982; aged 64) was an American jazz pianist and composer. He had a unique improvisational style and made numerous contributions to the standard jazz repertoire, including "'Round Midnight", "Blue Monk", "Straight, No Chaser", "Ruby, My Dear", "In Walked Bud", and "Well, You Needn't". Monk is the second-most-recorded jazz composer after Duke Ellington.
Monk's Dream is an album by Thelonious Monk that was released by Columbia Records in March 1963. It was Monk's first album for Columbia following his five-year recording period with Riverside Records.

Barry Doyle Harris (December 15, 1929 - December 8, 2021 ; aged 91) was an American jazz pianist, bandleader, composer, arranger, and educator. He was an exponent of the bebop style.
Harris performed with Cannonball Adderley's quintet and on television with them. Between 1965 and 1969, he worked extensively with Coleman Hawkins at the Village Vanguard. During the 1970s, Harris lived with Monk at the Weehawken, New Jersey home of the jazz patron Baroness Pannonica de Koenigswarter.
Magnificent! is an album by Barry Harris recorded in 1969 and released on the Prestige label.
