IT'S MONK'S TIME - THELONIOUS MONK

Thelonious Sphere Monk (October 10, 1917 - February 17, 1982; aged 64) was an American jazz pianist and composer. He had a unique improvisational style and made numerous contributions to the standard jazz repertoire, including "'Round Midnight", "Blue Monk", "Straight, No Chaser", "Ruby, My Dear", "In Walked Bud", and "Well, You Needn't". Monk is the second-most-recorded jazz composer after Duke Ellington.
It's Monk's Time (1964) is the third studio album Thelonious Monk released on Columbia Records.

THE SOUL SOCIETY - SAM JONES

Samuel Jones (November 12, 1924 – December 15, 1981; aged 57) was an American jazz double bassist, cellist, and composer.
He is probably best known for his work with Cannonball Adderley, performing in his quintet from 1955 to 1956 and then again from 1959 to 1964, and recording extensively for Riverside Records as both a leader and sideman. He later spent several years working with Oscar Peterson (1966-1970) and Cedar Walton (1972-1977).
The Soul Society is the debut album by Sam Jones featuring performances recorded in early 1960 and originally released on the Riverside label.

Ramsey Emmanuel Lewis Jr. (born May 27, 1935; age 87) is an American jazz composer, pianist and radio personality. Lewis has recorded over 80 albums and has received five gold records and three Grammy Awards so far in his career.
The In Crowd is a live album by the Ramsey Lewis Trio, recorded in 1965 at the Bohemian Caverns nightclub in Washington D.C. and released on the Argo label. Personnel is Ramsey Lewis on piano, Eldee Young on bass/cello and Redd Holt on drums. The album provided Lewis with his biggest hit reaching the top position on the Billboard R&B Chart and No. 2 on their top 200 albums chart in 1965.

Robert Henry Timmons (December 19, 1935 - March 1, 1974; aged 38) was an American jazz pianist and composer. He was a sideman in Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers for two periods (July 1958 to September 1959; February 1960 to June 1961), between which he was part of Cannonball Adderley's band. Several of Timmons' compositions written when part of these bands - including "Moanin'", "Dat Dere", and "This Here" - enjoyed commercial success and brought him more attention.
In Person is a live album by Bobby Timmons recorded in 1961 at the Village Vanguard and released on the Riverside label.

George Washington Benson (born March 22, 1943; age 79) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter.
Benson first came to prominence in the 1960s, playing soul jazz with Jack McDuff and others. He then launched a successful solo career, alternating between jazz, pop, R&B singing, and scat singing. His album Breezin' was certified triple-platinum, hitting no. 1 on the Billboard album chart in 1976. Benson has won ten Grammy Awards and has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He is also credited with giving guitarist George Benson his first break.
