Erroll Louis Garner (June 15, 1921 – January 2, 1977; aged 55) was an American jazz pianist and composer known for his swing playing and ballads. His instrumental ballad "Misty", his best-known composition, has become a jazz standard. It was first recorded in 1956 with Mitch Miller and his orchestra, and played a prominent part in the 1971 motion picture Play Misty for Me.

Barry Doyle Harris (December 15, 1929 - December 8, 2021 ; aged 91) was an American jazz pianist, bandleader, composer, arranger, and educator. He was an exponent of the bebop style.
Harris performed with Cannonball Adderley's quintet and on television with them. Between 1965 and 1969, he worked extensively with Coleman Hawkins at the Village Vanguard. During the 1970s, Harris lived with Monk at the Weehawken, New Jersey home of the jazz patron Baroness Pannonica de Koenigswarter.
Breakin' It Up is the debut album by Barry Harris recorded in 1958 and released on the Argo label.

Alfred McCoy Tyner (December 11, 1938 - March 6, 2020; aged 81) was an American jazz pianist and composer known for his work with the John Coltrane Quartet and a long solo career. He was an NEA Jazz Master and a five-time Grammy winner. Not a player of electric keyboards and synthesizers, he was committed to acoustic instrumentation. Tyner, who was widely imitated, is one of the most recognizable and most influential pianists in jazz history.
Sahara is an album by McCoy Tyner, his first to be released on the Milestone label. It was recorded in January 1972 and features performances by Tyner with saxophonist Sonny Fortune, bassist Calvin Hill, and drummer Alphonse Mouzon. The music shows African and Eastern influences and features all the musicians playing multiple instruments, with Tyner himself utilizing koto, flute, and percussion in addition to his usual piano.
