SWING FOR NININE - ROMANE

Romane, whose real name Patrick Leguidcoq, is a guitarist of jazz born in Paris (France) in 1959.
Although not gypsy, Romane benefited very early from the influence of the gypsy style and in particular of Django Reinhardt, of whom he remains a faithful heir, which does not prevent his from composing personal pieces.
Swing for Ninine is the first leader album recorded by Romane in 1992.

SALSA NO TEINE FRONTERA - ORQUESTA DE LA LUZ

Orquesta de la Luz (オルケスタ・デ・ラ・ルス "Orchestra of the Light"(光の楽団)) is a Japanese salsa band that was formed in 1984, and began performing and recording in 1989. It became widely famous in Latin America, particularly in the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Panama, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela and other Caribbean area countries.
In the summer of 1990 on June 21 The band debuted with BMG Victor with its 1st album "De La Luz". In August of the same year the band released the same album from RMM nationwide which earned the Gold Disc Award.
Salsa No Tiene Frontera is their second album released in 1991.

OUR LATIN THING - VARIOUS ARTISTS

Fania Records is a New York based record label founded by Dominican-born composer and bandleader Johnny Pacheco and his Brooklyn born Italian-American ex-New York City Police Officer turned lawyer Jerry Masucci in 1964. The label took its name from a popular luncheonette frequented by musicians in Havana, Cuba that Masucci frequented when he worked for a public relations firm there during the pre-Castro era. Fania is known for its promotion of Salsa music.
Our Latin Thing (Spanish: Nuestra Cosa Latina) was a 1972 documentary film directed by Leon Gast about the burgeoning Latin music scene in New York City. It focused on a concert put together by the management of Fania Records at Manhattan's Cheetah nightclub featuring a group of Fania artists called the Fania All-Stars.

Ramsey Emmanuel Lewis Jr. (born May 27, 1935; age 86) is an American jazz composer, pianist and radio personality. Lewis has recorded over 80 albums and has received five gold records and three Grammy Awards so far in his career.
Goin' Latin is a studio jazz album with Latin percussion and style by Ramsey Lewis which was released on Cadet Records in 1967. The album reached number 2 and number 16 on the Billboard Black and Jazz Albums Charts.

MANTECA - DIZZY GILLESPIE and His Orchestra

John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie (October 21, 1917 - January 6, 1993; aged 75) was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, composer, educator and singer. He was a trumpet virtuoso and improviser, building on the virtuoso style of Roy Eldridge but adding layers of harmonic and rhythmic complexity previously unheard in jazz. His combination of musicianship, showmanship, and wit made him a leading popularizer of the new music called bebop. His beret and horn-rimmed spectacles, scat singing, bent horn, pouched cheeks, and light-hearted personality provided one of bebop's most prominent symbols.
Manteca is an album by Dizzy Gillespie recorded at NYC, May 24, 1954 and June 3, 1954.

Elis Regina Carvalho Costa (March 17, 1945 - January 19, 1982; aged 36), known professionally as Elis Regina, was a Brazilian singer of popular and jazz music, she is also the mother of the singers Maria Rita and Pedro Mariano.
Aquarela do Brasil is a 1969 bossa nova album by Elis Regina and Toots Thielemans recorded at a studio in Sweden and released on Philips Records.

QUEM É QUEM - JOÃO DONATO

João Donato de Oliveira Neto (Rio Branco, August 17, 1934; age 87), better known only as João Donato, is a Brazilian pianist, accordionist, arranger, singer and composer.
Donato was friends with all the exponents of the bossanova movement, such as João Gilberto, Tom Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes and Johnny Alf, among others, but he was never characterized solely as such, but a very creative musician who promotes musical fusions, jazz and Latin music, among many others. In the 1950s, Joao Donato moved to the United States, where he stayed for thirteen years and did what he had never achieved in Brazil: reincorporating Afro-Cuban musicality into jazz.
Quem é Quem is João Donato's tenth album, published in 1973 by the Odeon record label, produced by Marcos Valle and Milton Miranda.

He is considered one of the "Three Kings of the Blues Guitar" (along with Albert King and BB King, none) Of whom are blood related). Mostly known for his soulful and powerful voice and distinctive guitar playing, King had a major influence on electric blues music and on many later blues guitarists.
