GOLDEN BOY - ART BLAKEY and The Jazz Messengers

Arthur Blakey (October 11, 1919 - October 16, 1990; aged 71) was an American jazz drummer and bandleader. In the mid-1950s, Horace Silver and Blakey formed the Jazz Messengers, a group that the drummer was associated with for the next 35 years.
Golden Boy (full title Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers Play Selections From the New Musical Golden Boy) is a 1963 album by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, performing compositions by Lee Adams and Charles Strouse written for the Broadway musical Golden Boy. The LP was originally released on the Colpix label.

Oscar Emmanuel Peterson (August 15, 1925 - December 23, 2007; aged 82) was a Canadian jazz pianist, virtuoso and composer. He was called the "Maharaja of the keyboard" by Duke Ellington, simply "O.P." by his friends, and informally in the jazz community as "the King of inside swing". He is considered one of history's great jazz pianists, and played thousands of concerts worldwide in a career lasting more than 60 years.
West Side Story is a 1962 studio album by Oscar Peterson and his trio. The album features jazz interpretations of seven songs from the film West Side Story.

Steve Lacy (July 23, 1934 - June 4, 2004; aged 69), born Steven Norman Lackritz in New York City, was an American jazz saxophonist and composer recognized as one of the important players of soprano saxophone. Coming to prominence in the 1950s as a progressive dixieland musician, Lacy went on to a long and prolific career.
Reflections (subtitled Steve Lacy Plays Thelonious Monk) is the second album by Steve Lacy which was released on the Prestige label in 1959.

In the early-1970s, he toured internationally with Quincy Jones and continued working with Wilson into the 1980s.
Jazz for Young Moderns (And Old Buzzards, Too) is a jazz album by Tony Ortega on the Bethlehem label and released in 1959.

Arthur Edward Pepper Jr. (September 1, 1925 - June 15, 1982; aged 56) was an American alto saxophonist and very occasional tenor saxophonist and clarinetist. A longtime figure in West Coast jazz, Pepper came to prominence in Stan Kenton's big band. He was known for his emotionally charged performances and several stylistic shifts throughout his career.
"The Art of Pepper" is a 1958 jazz album by Art Pepper with Carl Perkins, Ben Tucker, and Chuck Flores.
