Gary Burton (born January 23, 1943; age 82) is an American retired jazz vibraphonist, composer, and educator. Burton developed a pianistic style of four-mallet technique as an alternative to the prevailing two-mallet technique. As well as being a major figure in music education from his 30 years teaching at the Berklee College of Music.

King, Jim Hall, John Scofield, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ralph Towner and Kevin Eubanks) along with an all-star band including tenor saxophonist Bob Berg, pianist Mulgrew Miller, bassist Steve Swallow and drummer Jack DeJohnette.
